My first DNF of the year and unfortunately one I didn’t want to make. I’d given the series too many chances to redeem itself, but I couldn’t feel the immersion at all. I had been waiting for around four/five years to finally read this series (due to how inaccessible it is in the UK), and now I’ve finally read it I’m thoroughly disappointed.
Bland characters, a ‘Gary Stu’ protagonist, low stakes and countless editing mistakes made these books a drag to get through.
