Very inspiring and informative. More context to each text would be useful though.

A great collection of suffragette speeches, pamphlets and ideologies. Helped me a lot when researching and writing about first wave feminism

What have we to do? We have got to fight on. I should like to see a sandwich board going all over London, and on the top marked, "Wanted some good window smashers". That is what we want. You know that every woman ought never to go out without a hammer in her pocket, and never to go out, at least without touching one pillar box. You, who cannot break windows, for goodness sake get on with something else. - Annie Kenney
This was an exhilarating read from start to finish. In my reading I tend to focus more on theoretical analysis of women's struggles because I find it more insightful, but this book certainly proved me wrong. I got to see the angles from which women were arguing for their rights, and this collection provided a spectrum that included arguments concerning everything from women's role as "mothers of the nation" to their leadership positions in which they have excelled. I was particularly impressed by Gore-Booth's text, because her arguments were deeply rooted in her socialist and trade unionist beliefs, and she seemed to me to possess an astounding lucidity concerning the practical use of the vote. I would recommend this book to anyone who wants to learn more about the suffragist movement in Britain, but you should be warned that you will not find any texts that concern other regions of the world.

this was a very cool thing to read even if slightly sad and frustrating due to how few rights we used to have (and rights that some people constantly wish to remove)
