"Fangirl" -el libro- tine un lugar especial en mi corazón, incluso a sabiendas que no ha envejecido bien y que le dejo pasar algunas cosas solo por el valor afectivo.
Por eso cuando anunciaron esta adaptación no sabía que esperar osi volver a visitar este mundo no tendría el mismo efecto. Por lo cual fue una sorpresa leer este primer tomo y disfrutarlo más de lo esperado.
"Fangirl" nos cuenta un poco de la vida de Cath, fan de Simon Snow y escritora de fanics. Entramos a su vida cuando está atravezando una serie de cambio ligados a la universidad (debe mudarse y dejar a su padre depresivo solo, su hermana melliza le pide un poco de distancia para decubrirse, y su serie favoritas de libros está por finalizar).
Mientras vamos descubriendo algunos dramas familiares, también vemos como Cath lidia con la ansiedad de hacer nuevos amigos "en la vida real", con un rompimiento a la distancia y algunos detalles más que le van dando forma a la trama.
El arte es adorable, siento que le sumó a la transición entre "mundo fanfiction" y "mundo real" de manera efectiva con pocas póginas (especialmene porque "Carry on, simon" podría tener una novela gráfica propia y no sacarle el foco al drama humano de "Fangirl") .
En genral, terminé gratamente soprendida con este tomo, es una buena adaptación que suaviza algunas cosas (Cath es much más agradable de entrada) y simplifica otras.
Una linda lectura lo suficiente bien editada como para poder disfrutarla sin conocer el material original.

This is a cute and lighthearted adaptation from the book.
Not only is nicely dawn, I also feel the manga format really helped some of narrative decisions. Specially the connection between the real world and the fanfic world.
But first things first. Fangirl follows Cath, a college student that is going through a lot of changes in her life. She is leaving her home to go to college, her twin sister wants more autonomy, her dad is alone and she is not sure he could cope well with loneliness and her background as fanfiction author is playing against her in her classes. And even if it feels like everything is going downhill for her, she is making friends and learning about life outside of her comfort zone.
The first volume give us a good look of the main plot and cast. And as I said before, the story works really well as manga. Although some developments are condensed, since they are shown and not told, it really helps.
I have quite a soft spot for the original book but I'm aware of some of its problems, regardless this version feels really nice (maybe it's because it's the beginning, only time will tell) but this was an overall fun and easy read.
