I think I would have loved this book if I had read it when I was in high school (which is impossible because it wasn’t written yet). It’s got a great combination of snarky, deep, tongue-in-cheek, self-referential, poignant bits that 16 year old me would have been wild for. Unfortunately I am old and jaded. Also this book is quite dated with ableist slurs and just a lot of cringey parts. I did enjoy it though. Even though it was my first time reading it, I felt nostalgic about it. Flavors of The Phantom Tollbooth meets Catcher in the Rye.
