Wonderful

4.5 stars! This series must be read in order! I loved that we got to see more Jared and Nathan, but Tim and Seb were the stars.

The sex was hot, and though part of the beginning seemed to repeat the first book, it quickly branched.

We don’t find out that Seb is taller and bigger than Tim until well into the book, so I had a hard time picturing him in the story. I did have a clear picture of Tim however.

I loved all the characters and am looking forward to Alec’s story now that we’ve seen more to him (I didn’t like him in book 1).

I just loved Seb & Tim’s characters! They played and built so well on each other. I hope the next book is about Mark & Alec.

I’m not a fan of characters that start out as ass***** however it’s used often in enemies to lovers stories and the pain and disgust of these characters almost always ends in a great payoff for the reader

So as I went into this book, I knew that I wasn’t going to be a fan of Seb’s. He was rather petulant and (what’s the word re: being prejudiced against an entire population?!). Anyway, I was prepared for the ohhh shifters are mean and evil and horrible…up to a point.

When Tim, our awesome pack doctor falls for Seb you think - yes - a love of a good wolf is all this selfish human needs to get over himself.

And for awhile, I was hopeful. But by the 75% point if the character is not showing signs of growth, how does the author expect to hold my attention? Win me over?

I listened to the audio version of the book and Antony Ferguson did a great job with the material he had to work with.

And I did finish the book in small pieces - 10 minutes here and there because after that 75% point in time, I knew that emotionally investing in this book was a big mistake for me. Because each book in the series has cross-over characters, I stuck this out in anticipation of the next book.

To the author: I enjoyed many of your books and I really wish that you would re-write parts of Seb’s character. He’s not sympathetic enough for us to tolerates hours end hours of petulant and self-centered behavior.

As I was hoping I would I enjoyed this second book in this series. I did like the first book a little better, but I think its more because there was a bit more angst and snark between Nathan and Jared from both sides. Sebastian's personality lines up more with his best friends, while Tim is just utterly a sweetheart. I mean he's a caring doctor and everything for christ sakes. I wanted to snuggle him.

The fake boyfriend plot strikes again in this one folks, but in a different way. Ahem no kidnapping or illegal situations. Thanks to Nathan's survival in book 1, pack relations between Ppack and Regent's Park pack have been strained to say the least.

Tim takes the role as protector of Sebastian for the time being, since Sebastian is of course human and an easy target to get back at Nathan. What Tim did not expect was his growing feelings for Sebastian to escalate so quickly. It broke my heart for Tim every time Sebastian would explain how he wanted nothing to do with a shifter relationship and how creepy he felt the whole concept of bonding was. Again I just wanted to snuggle Tim. He had the patience of a saint for what Sebastian put him through.

Sebastian decides a good old friends with bennies deal would make the best out of a shitty situation of Tim having to be watching him all the time. Tim agrees, knowing this was going to end in his heart breaking, but doing it anyways. The man still has a sliver of hope he clings onto. I thought this made Sebastian rather selfish. He knew Tim had feelings for him and he knew he didn't want anything serious with the shifter, yet he suggests it anyways. He should have taken Tim's feelings into more consideration, instead he keeps reminding him that it all has an end date.

To be fair the now hooking up and getting to know Tim better causes Sebastian to start to think he may have been wrong to not want to start anything serious. Tim is smart and genuinely a nice guy: the perfect package on top of the amazingly hot sex. It's the fact that he's a shifter Sebastian needs to get over the most.

We get our rogue drama, which like book 1, doesn't take over the whole story. It is realistic to the plot, but the blossoming romance between the two MCs is foremost in the story which I liked. Everyone loves an HEA. 4 star read

Something is missing from Seb and why he hates shifters. I know he said the main reason being Nathan and jarred. But it feels like somethings missing

While I enjoyed this one - let’s be real, Annabelle Jacobs is a master at paranormal suspense - it didn’t quite check all the boxes for me. I didn’t find Seb as likable as I’d hoped, and I was a bit disappointed that Tim was somewhat of a doormat who allowed Seb to reel him in and push him away time and again. Overall, I’m enjoying this series, especially the building tension between packs and the drama that’s unfolding. Can’t wait to see what happens next!

This one picks up where the first book in the series left off and this time, we get Seb and the sexy pack doctor, Tim. This second book is a bit more of a slow burn in the romance department, but there is definite chemistry and these two are hot, hot, hot together. We get more about bonding among shifters and I really like the author's take on it and how it all works. There's also a bit of danger, which forces Seb and Tim into a fake relationship, and of course, we all know how those turn out. The fake romance trope has been a little overdone lately, but the story is fresh and that added bit of danger spices things up. My issue with this one is Seb. I didn't care much for him in the first book, but considering his response to Tim in the first book, I really hoped for a lighter side of him here. Instead, he's rather hard to like and even harder to root for as he continuously shows what a jerk he can be. For a lot of this one, I wanted to shake the frustrating Seb until his teeth rattled. And Tim, I absolutely loved Tim, but at the same time, I kept thinking he needed to man up and stop being such a doormat with Seb. Things do eventually come together, and I did start to root for this pair's happiness, but for me it was a little too long getting there. However, the danger and suspense were good, and I'll be interested to see where that goes in the next book.

My current situation:
When the kids are giving this book 4 -5 stars but I'm in a funk because I didn't enjoy the book as much as I would have liked but they did.

There were two major issues that made Bitten By Design a love/hate read for me. The first problem is that the romantic plot was super thin. Jacobs did everything in her power to contrive a situation that would force Sebastian and Tim together. They were thrown together not by fate but by a poorly orchestrated excuse that required they be together. That stuck in my craw.

The second problem I had with this installment is with Sebastian.
I'm just gonna dive right in and state I was not a fan of Sebastian in the beginning of book one. He was too judgy and overbearing for my taste but, by the end of Bitten By Mistake I adored Sebastian and I couldn't wait for him to get his own story. I was excited Sebastian got his own book until he started treating Tim, the loveable pack doctor like ---> Fill in the blank _____! Sebastian was an insensitive, whiny, king of mixed signals SELFISH jerk! The more he jerked Tim around the more I started to not like him all over again. GRRR!

I was beyond annoyed reading: "I know it's wrong." "I know it's unfair." " I know it's _____ (fill in the blank with whatever excuse). "but can you....?" I mean come on Seb! He had unrealistic expectations of Tim, to hold on to his control and go against his ingrained nature to protect and to claim his mate.

How could Jacobs expect me to like Sebastian, especially when he pulled this stunt:

“But would you want to stay in the flat with me until this is all sorted out?”
There were a lot of reasons why that was a bad idea. He’d get even more attached than he was now. His scent would be all over Seb’s home, mixing with Seb’s and forming ‘their’ scent. He’d get too used to it; he knew he would. It would be too close to what he wanted for it to be healthy. And it would kill him when he had to leave.”

Ugh!

I really wanted to love this installment but Jacobs dropped the ball a bit on this one. The romantic plot was so weak I felt let down when I turned the last page. Not because the story ended but because I wanted so much more for these two. On a more positive note, the overall plot of the series itself is coming along nicely and I am interested in what Jacobs has coming down the pipeline. I just hope that future MC's don't suffer as much as poor Tim did.
