Exhilarating

This is my first book by the author. Fast paced thriller keeps you on the edge. Espionage and great court room drama.

I have read several books by this author and really enjoyed them. Thus the reason that I wanted to read this new book. Mr. Dugoni presents a strong offering with this new book in what I hope to be a new series. The Eighth Sister is fast paced and has the vibes of James Bond meets Jason Bourne!

Lead character, Charles Jenkins is an very engaging character. The fact that he is a dedicated family man and the reason for taking this case made me like him even more. Speaking of the case; it was intriguing. It got even more intriguing the further I read.

Mr. Dugoni transported me around the world and back. In fact, this book made me imagine I was a spy again. When I was younger; I used to pretend I was one. Anyone looking for a great thriller/espionage book to read, need to get their hands on a copy of this book.

This was an interesting sort of political thriller with a CIA and FBI edge. This book went from an ex case officer being reactivated and running around Russia to the courtroom in the most interesting way. Charles Jenkins left the CIA a long time ago and his previous boss has searched him out to send him out on a new case in Russia where he has had previous experience and in the mean time his boss has promised to rescue his company that is moments away from falling into financial ruin. All while his wife is experiencing a hard pregnancy and his son is growing to know what his dad does for a living.

I received a copy of this story from NetGalley in exchange for an honest review.

I was so thrilled when I received an ARC of this book from NetGalley! I was first introduced to Robert Dugoni with his Tracy Crosswhite series and I was excited to explore his writing with a different character.

I have to say: I enjoyed this book a lot! I love conspiracy theories and procedural storytelling so it was something of a given that I'd like this story. But the layering in of Russia and Russian culture, a behind-the-scenes look at CIA field work, and an older cast of characters made it all the more appealing. Charlie Jenkins is a guy I'd like to chat with!

Robert Dugoni never disappoints with his storytelling. It was intriguing and dynamic and moved at just the right pace for the story he was telling. And while his cast of characters was extensive, they joined in seamlessly with the flow of the narrative.
SpoilerI particularly loved that about half the story involved the aftermath of Charlie's adventures in Russia. Too often stories like this are all action until it's neatly wrapped up at the end.
This felt realistic; it felt like an article I could read today.

I would ABSOLUTELY recommend this book to anyone looking for a good read!

You think you know which way this is going but honestly it had me questioning what I thought. It easily could have went either way. Really enjoyed this book.

Pretty entertaining book that felt kinda like a spy thriller with a bonus courtroom procedural added in. I should read more espionage books!

I love a good spy adventure and this doesn’t disappoint. The story is well crafted and full of enough realistic characters that it was hard to put down.
