WEAPONS MASTER brings us the conclusion of the House of Rone series and it was nice to see all the cyborgs in love and all the humans rescued from the Edull. I loved Bellamy's resilience and her fire; she's a strong woman who has been through a lot, even before she was kidnapped by aliens. She sees Maxon for who he really is under his gruff and growly demeanor and Bellamy finds a way to get past his hard outer shell. Together these two begin to heal and find someone they can be at peace with. While I liked the story and the characters, my lower rating is mostly because the books in this series were getting pretty repetitive in overall feel.

Another great read by Hackett. I love her sci-fi romance. Do need to read series in order. This is the last novel in this series and everyone has an HEA and the overall ARC is completed.

An absolute page-turner

I have adored the unapologetically grumpy Weapons Master from the very beginning and watching him be invaded by the strong willed Bellamy was PERFECT. This story was a fantastic end to this House of GGs, and I’m ecstatic to hear about the Galactic Kings! Hopefully House of Lore (the green caped gladiators) will also get stories ❤️❤️

Grumpy meets fiesty, admittedly one of my favourite tropes. She's courageous and embraces life without dwelling. He's the usual cold cyborg who's wary of feelings, but she pushes him to face them. There's a bit of push-pull in their romance (him), which builds through their working relationship (loved the way she rags on him), and there're certainly sparks when they get together! The action plot is neatly resolved, and it's a good finale.

Series: Galactic Gladiators: House of Rone #6
Rating:5 stars - I loved it!

Mechanic Bellamy Wash was kidnapped and sold by alien slavers. Now she fights for her survival against the Edull and their Battle Ring. When she is rescued by the grumpy weapons master she struggles to adjust to her freedom. One thing that will help is bringing down the Edull and their terrible arena.

“I’m the weapons master here.” “You’re the grump master.”

I have eagerly been waiting for this book since Maxon was first introduced. I loved the idea of a grumpy cyborg who creates amazing weapons. I am very glad to say this book did not disappoint. Maxon Shaye was a grumpy, annoying, and protective cyborg who has been hiding his softer side. He was hurt in his past and refuses to let anyone close, until Bellamy. I adored Maxon. He was everything I look for in a hero.

“Love doesn’t need to be flashy and loud. It can be quiet and solid...Love is fierce and strong, soft and gentle...And I’m seeing it can also be a little grumpy and bossy.”

Bellamy was just the woman Maxon needed. She was smart, snarky, determined, and wasn’t afraid to stand up to Maxon or tease him. She pushes him to embrace his feelings and truly live. I loved her determination to embrace what life throws at you and to roll with it. It has definitely made her a strong woman and she embraces happiness when she can find it. She doesn’t wallow in the past all the time or the “what ifs” of life. I really love that in a character and try to embrace it myself because it is a good thing to learn.

“What ifs are fucking useless. We have to make the most of whatever life throws at us. Move forward.”

These two were just the perfect couple to me. They had a great partnership that was both romantic and work related. Bellamy could easily see things that Maxon was missing during his weapons building or help him work out an idea. I love when characters connect like this. This type of supportive relationship always makes me extremely happy and I feel it makes the romance better too.

In preparation for this book, I have spent the last two weeks rereading both the Galactic Gladiators and the House of Rone series. This is one of my favorite alien worlds to visit and I am sad that this book is the last in the House of Rone series. But this book was amazing and a great way to end the series. I look forward to what is going to come out next, especially since it might be in the same world.

Maxon, like all the best kinda heroes, is grumpy. But the grumpiness hides a heart of gold that he doesn't want to admit to having. He cares about his fellow cyborgs, their mates and children, and even the other humans who have found their way to Carthago.

Bellamy got under his skin in a moment and he won't rest till she is back under House of Rone's roof, safe and sound. Bellamy is not an angel of perfection. She can grump with the best of them and she has more shard edges than smooth curves. Being a slave to the Edull can do that to a girl. But she will embrace all those edges to put down the Edull once and for all. But can she do it without losing her heart to Maxon on the way?

Maxon and Bellamy are ideal partners and they both have passed they'd like to forget. Bellamy takes no crap from anyone, she even takes on rich idiots who have the audacity to look down on Maxon, even though they are the ones who left him behind. There are a couple of intriguing allies we haven't really met before and I am soooooo intrigued by them. Warrior Kings from Space for the Win! Gladiators with green cloaks - ooooooooooooooooh
