What was so scandalous about calves, anyway? And why was cleavage perfectly acceptable? Whoever came up with these rules should be permanently denied desserts.

Some children dream of running away to join the Night Market. I did so to escape a nightmare. Still, being forced into an overheated tent to read fortunes until sunrise has its trials—naturally. But when he visits me, I suffer for entirely different reasons.

Stars above, Rhylen Lonan is the most beautiful faerie I’ve ever known. A Raven shifter with long black hair, dark purple eyes, and magic that stirs my own. Each Night Market, in exchange for a generous slice of cake and a delicious morsel of gossip, I read him three cards. And before the gates open, he breaks my heart with the same question. “Does my mate love me back?”

Every time, I'm taunted with visions of Rhylen in love . . . with her. His mate. Until tonight’s reading, that is, when Fate takes a sudden dark turn. I see a devastating fire. He will be forced to marry to save his tribe or face banishment. She will be hunted by other fae in a wedding game. I do not see her face. I never have. Nor do I know her name.

But as Rhylen’s destiny continues to grip my Sight, I start to suspect it's me. That I have always been his forbidden future. And I don’t know what terrifies me most—that I might be his downfall or that he might be mine.

It didn’t take long to climb down the tree and situate my skirts to, once more, protect my calves from wanton behavior unbefitting a proper lady. One could never trust a lady’s calves.

As you can probably tell from the description of Rhylen Lonan being the most beautiful faerie they've ever known...you can guess there's quite a bit of internal swooning and paying attention to good looks. For those that don't like that in their reads, beware.

That said, the humor is definitely my brand of humor. It kept things lighter when the bulk of this book really isn't. Indentured servitude, gypsy hate, magical manipulation, and a touch of mystery comprise the bulk of this. That and, you guessed it, starcrossed angst.

Recommended as a library read for readers that like the true mate angst.

Jesikah Sundin’s “The Night Market” is a highly entertaining fantasy romance novel that had intricate world building and was incredibly addicting - I couldn’t put it down!

I didn’t realize how much I would enjoy a story that involved forbidden fated mates, but that’s exactly what I discovered by reading this book!

This was the love story of Rhylen Lonan and Filena Merrick, who are forbidden to be together even though they are True Mates (fated mates).

This book had so many agonizingly angsty moments, but that was part of the reason why it was such a good read!

Rhylen and Filena were both wonderfully complex characters, but the banter between side characters such as Filena’s brother Cian and Rhylen’s sister Glenna was also extremely hilarious!

Rhylen Lonan is every girl’s dream; he was kindhearted and caring. However, there’s another side to him as well - he would literally burn down the world if it meant keeping his loved ones, especially Filena, safe. He gives off serious touch her and die vibes, which I loved!

Filena Merrick was such a lovable heroine as well. I felt so bad for her in the beginning, when she thought her dreams were impossible and her feelings unrequited. Her character development was insane - she found her voice, gained confidence, and I’m proud of her for it.

I fell in love with Rhylen and Filena. This entire book was amazing, and I know their story won’t be leaving my mind anytime soon! I highly recommend for any fantasy romance fan!

This was a true love conquers all story. This story contained stakes but it also had some more cozy fantasy moments. I absolutely adored all of thr fae creature and there little quirks had me cracking up and truly brought extra fun and life the to book. There was also some of the sweet moments that I couldn't help but highlight, they were truly swoon worthy. Oh and that ending the author is leading to more in the world and I am so excited to adventure back to the fantasy she has created.
