krikketgirl's review against another edition
3.0
This is an average 1920s mystery, with not much outstanding about it. The initial crime and discovery are suitably mysterious, there is a gentle love interest, and plenty of back-and-forth action. It's heavy on dialogue and light on ratiocination, and it feels as though occasionally the author painted himself into a corner and then had to throw in another monkey wrench to jolt the story back into motion. Still, worth a read if you're a fan of the Golden Age mysteries.
