Cute cozy mystery. Knittng and mystery make a fun read.

In theory, this sounds like the perfect book for any fiber artist but I can't in good conscious recommend it.
I’ve read plenty of cozy mysteries following "older" characters that DON'T feature fatphobic comments, glorified narcissism, slut shaming, and many other judgmental remarks (like around marjuana use). These negative views held no importance to the actual story and the author has no excuse for including them.
While the actual mystery was intriguing enough, I don't even want to give any praise to the author who I can only assume has the same hateful views as the characters she wrote. It’s really a shame that there is so much negativity woven throughout this book because the fiber art and thrifting content made this an ideal series for me to read while crocheting.

It is an average murder mystery. It was fun to read. I found it harder to connect with the main character because of how she was written. Pamela is an older character, but she was written to sound like a grandma figure instead of an older woman who liked to knit. I kept imagining her with a cane, it felt like she was much older than she was supposed to be.

A trashy mystery novel, but in a good way. Experienced knitters may find some of the descriptions a bit "off", but furthermore it's a fun and engaging read if you're into homemade food, fluffy yarns and cozy stories.

This book was such a fun read. I love Murder She Wrote and it just gave me that kind of vibe.
Pamela is hosting the weekly knitting club, Knit and Nibble that week. She invited a new member to the club, only she doesn't arrive. Once the meeting is all done, Pamela is out in her front yard and finds a body! It is the missing club member. With the help of another club member and neighbor, Pamela starts sleuthing because as she says, the police don't always ask the right questions, trying to find out who the murderer is.
I love the details in this book. If you like knitting, baked goods, coffee and a little mystery you'll love this one. I didn't even guess who the killer was !!

This book caught my eye at my local library because I’m a knitter, a baker, I love cats, and mystery is my favourite genre. Felt like it was a series made for me! I enjoyed the story overall and found it an easy read. I loved the knitting club meetings and the descriptions of the baking and food being prepared.
There wasn’t anything gripping or shocking about the mystery and that was a bit disappointing but I’ve decided not to take it that seriously. The characters referenced made for tv mysteries a few times and the story definitely felt like a hallmark series. So it was fun and as lighthearted as a cheesy murder mystery could be.
I will say with the writing there were a few details the author added in that felt like she was just trying to up the word count or something. One example that sticks out in my mind is when Pamela and her friend are getting into the car, her friend gets into the drivers seat and then Pamela asks her to unlock her passenger door and that’s how the chapter ends.. why not just say they got in the car? Seems like a detail trying to add depth to the story but instead missed the mark and took me out of it and that was a theme with many (in my opinion) unnecessary details throughout the book. But once I accepted that that’s how the author writes I learned to ignore it and it wasn’t too bad.
Even with those few little things I did enjoy reading the book, it was a fun short escape from the hustle and bustle of every day life. I’m looking forward to reading the next book in the series to see what Pamela gets up to next and to hear more about Catrina!
