This is one of the original calls for corporate accountability through more open data practices. Nader takes readers step by step throught car manufacturers' lack of incentive and concomitant lack of investment in safety measures for the vehicles they create. In a compelling (if now far outdated) polemic, he calls for federal research with public resultes, and federal mandates for public safety.
