This is an autobiographical account of life in the Blasket Islands (off the coast of Ireland) from the mid 1800s till the 1920s, or thereabouts. A window into another world. Hunting, scavenging, fishing, farming. The arrival of tea. Travelling to the mainland for funerals, weddings, market days, mass. Shipwrecks, seal hunts, hurling on the beach. Truly captivating.
