This was an enjoyable and quick read about Death (the grim reaper) and his lover, a woman with the ability to talk to the spirits of the dead. I liked the story, which had to do with helping several ghosts (and their families) find peace and move on and also involved the perils of being a medium to the dead in the world of the living. The relationship between Death and Loralei was also quite touching - I especially liked that Death looked different (less like a grim reaper and more like a sexy hunk of man) in Loralei's home because of her love; it was a nice, romantic touch and also hinted at traditions of hospitality magic and the transormative power of love. The romance was good, but not overpowering, and there was action enough of the non-romantic kind to move the plot forward. It was a very quick read, but one that I can easily recommend - for such a short novel it packs a multi-genre punch.

I really enjoyed this novella! The novella focuses on a couple-he is Death (think grim reaper) and she is able to see dead people. Together they are able to communicate with ghosts and help them go into the Light.

I really like that Death wasn't described as cold or cruel or any of the other words normally associated with grim reaper type characters, instead he is described as compassionate. I also like that Death can take on the appearance of a human male. I think both Death and Loralei are well-developed characters. Highly recommended :)
