I tried. The reviews were pretty good but I just couldn't get into it which is weird because I like vampire stories.

this book was horrible and i honestly only finished it bc i thought my review would have more weight than if i dnf’d it. 2x speed while half listening still felt too long.

there were weird vampire antics, some real-life stalking via twitter, and of course no one knows how to communicate. not a fan.

I loved this! It had such a cool vibe/tone about it. The maternal bond was also a highlight of this book. I absolutely love when I find an awesome book and I got it for really cheap, I got this one for $2.35 in a Bargain Bin.

It is a trilogy as well so might try the second one out. This one wraps most things up though so I think it could be read as a stand-alone.

4 stars - Love the unique vibe this book has

I wanted to like Motherless Child, but in the end, the story felt repetitive and empty. Many parts of the writing felt abrupt and unfinished with the way sentences and thoughts were structured. Motivations felt muddied. There was some cool imagery invoked near the end of the story, but it was not enough to save the book as a whole.
