I only read this book to get some closure for what happened in the first book and while I did acquire that level of knowledge, I wasn't at all interested in the way it was executed. It seemed like the majority of the book was just paragraphs and paragraphs and paragraphs about nothing in particular. I love this concept and I typically really enjoy suspenseful, sci-fi novels, but I got a lot of the science fiction aspect but none of the suspense that there was in the first book. I was expecting more of what happened in the first but was ultimately let down by it.

This was good. Really good. I was still holding out hope, that his dad might not be dead, but that's just me. I like the fact that it's not a trilogy. The author's sat down, and got it done with no frills. This book pulled some emotion out of me, and in such a short time, I came to care about these characters deeply. This is a level all authors should aspire to. And I do reccomend this book, I really do.

Burn may be book 2 of this series, but it bumped up the action by double. The pages were on fire because I couldn't turn them fast enough. I like the characters as they come together for a common cause, the action as that new alliance battles the enemy who wants to take over the world and the sad romantic moments when the main character knows it seems he is turning his back on his love interest, but it is really because he can't stand to watch her die as everyone who gets close to him seems to do. The battles really jump up the tension and the reader cannot put the book down at these segments because you just have to know what happens. Some books fail to meet a reader's expectations, but this one exceeds them. Have a great read!
