This is a beautiful and poetic collection in which Meredith plays with short story form that shows her to be an extraordinary talent. It's a stylish book in many respects, and the stories she tells resonates with fearlessness and confidence.

The narratives are compelling and Meredith has an incredible talent for offering little details that quickly shape the people she is giving voice to into complex and understood characters. It is not just her lyrical prose but thoughtful twists on how the stories are laid out on the page that does this. The design of the narrative, type, page and book itself all work in concert. It is a wonderful reading experience as a story unfolds and reveals itself.

People are the centre of this collection and you can feel that Meredith has given careful consideration to the voices she gives life to. She herself has said her writing have 'an underlying Pacific politique' and the voices she writes in feel genuine, you can read an inherent trust that they are authentic.

It's a bold and rich collection you'll want to pour over each time you (re)read.
