Okay, seeing Mr William Herondale alive and well has made my year, and possibly the rest of my life.

It took my brain a hot minute to remember when Will and Tessa existed together, but once I figured it out, we were off to the races. This was a great start to the Last Hours trilogy Looking forward to reading Chain of Irons to see what these characters get up o next.

My thoughts about this book wrapped into a very brief summary:

Cordelia is a sword wielding queen, I want to give James a hug, Matthew was done so dirty, Lucie is adorable, Thomas is a cinnamon roll, Anna was a bad bitch, I needed more Christopher, and I wanted to punch Grace in the face the entire time.

Yup. That pretty much sums it up.

another saga of the herondales not being normal about the carstairs.

honestly, i love cordelia and james so much. but i was also really invested in lucie, alastair, and the lightwoods. particularly anna lightwood. i need to be seduced by her, unabashed and happy.

plot-wise, this was a bit of a drag, a predictable plot, but characters-wise, this might be clare’s best—debatable also—work. these characters are pretty unique from her other characters—part of families that are well and alive, dealing of legacies that are quite intertwined with the plot and setting, and not particularly lacking in any visible front. it is interesting how the mundanity of everything at first glance turns out to be much deeper and layered.
