Indispensable, necesario, impactante.

Incredible work of scholarship on an often under-examined historical process: the witch hunts. My only criticism would be that the last chapter could have use more elaboration on how exactly the more recent witch hunts in Africa and Latin America are connected to structural adjustment programs from the IMF and the World Bank. Interesting idea, I just think she should have expanded more on it. But overall, an absolute must-read for anyone interested in the history of women's subjugation and capitalism.

tremendously important and readable historical/theoretical work that advances a fundamentally interesting if flawed thesis. the sections on european history absolutely shine, the later sections trying to link this to colonization and ongoing globalization projects not so much. but still glad i read it!
