This is an essential text for understanding the ways in which women’s bodies have been comodified throughout history and especially under capitalism. Federici walks us expertly through the history and presents her argument with a concise flow.

Fascinating subject, immensely important to gain understanding of the era of the witch hunt. However, the book is not an easy read language wise as it is an academic text. A highlight are the images, engravings and woodcuts.

Provides spectacular insight into the complex metamorphosis of feudal Europe into modern capitalism and the fundamental role which was played by the degradation of women. Taken in context of human psycho-cultural dynamics, Federicis work is critical for understanding the antecedents of modern patriarchal systems. Most specifically those deeply internalised, almost pre-conscious assumptions about the role of women and womanhood in human society.

It is unmistakably a harrowing read but one I would fully recommend for anyone seeking to better know themselves and to better define a pathway to good future.

A powerfully illuminating book that explores how exploitation, deprivation, division, violence, and abuse have been and continue to be the means by which capitalism develops and spreads. Only downside is that the writing style is really quite dense.
