The movie was amazing and beautiful and perfect, the novelization was like the opposite.

I love the Force Awakens. This does not feel like the Force Awakens. This feels like someone saw the movie, and is now trying to relay the movie to you from memory.

New pieces were added, and entire dialogue sections were changed for no reason. The magic from the movie was gone. Pretty disappointed, I’d rather just re-watch the movie.

The writing is 'eh' but I love this movie too much not to give it at least three stars.

Without question I love the movie, but the novalization was sadly not as good. It was super detailed and long in the beginning and super rushed in the end.

Hey, I wrote a review for this!

"What Foster does in his novelization of 'Force Awakens' is take the breakneck pace of the two-hour-plus film and slow it down to a more suitable pace for verse. It is still a quick read but it now has layers that the film did not have, including additional character insight and missing scenes."

You can read my complete review of the Star Wars TFA novelization at the Current student newspaper website.

I'm gonna be honest here. I've only skimmed this book. Because I am a Poe Dameron junkie and I NEEDED to know how he got off of Jakku, okay? It was important to me :) I do intend to go back and read this book more thoroughly in the future, for fic writing purposes, but for now... yeah... Poe Dameron ;P
