This is one of those sweet second chance love stories. I loved this story. Laiyla and Levi are both such strong characters. The story is well written, the characters are well developed and realistic.
When Laiylas grandfather passes away he leaves her his property and house on Wildfire Lake a place she spent each summer, a place she had loved. Her parents are not happy that the property was left to her and not to them, but then her grandfather knew that her mother had never liked the place so he left it to the person who had loved it as much as he had.
When Laiyla finally takes the time to go and visit the property she is astounded at the state of it. Her father had told her he hired someone to take care of everything. It is a good thing Laiyla has two really good friends that are willing to help her out.
Running into Levi was not something that she was hoping for, she had left him years ago and had never looked back, so seeing him again was a shock.
Levi was not expecting to see Laiyla so when he saw her standing on the dock at her grandfathers place he just hd to go and see her.
This one is a page turner, it just sucks you right into the story. I love a book that pull emotions from me and this one certainly did. I got angry at some characters, and felt sorry for Laiyla. I laughed because the humor in this book is great.
The love scenes can be a little steamy so I would not hand this over to a younger reader.
If you love a great romance story, that is so well written that you feel like you are a part of it, then this is the book for you.

So so good! I read this book in one sitting, I could not put it down. These characters, including KT and Chloe are so loveable. I hope we get to see more of Chloe and her hot cop, and KT finding her HEA as well. Highly recommend!!
Laiyla is always trying to figure out how to get out from under her parents' thumb. Everything she loves and cherishes is in the small town where her grandfather lived. Levi is her one true love, but she was forced to leave him when she moved to Paris. But like he, she never got over him. When they meet again all their feelings, they thought had been buried over the past decade, resurfaces and they realize they are both, right where they should be.

5 stars!

Laiyla has spent her life attempting to live up to her parent's standards and expectations. Always feeling as though she falls short no matter how much she achieves. Hoping to find peace with the pressure she attended a retreat almost seven years ago and during a cyclone formed a friendship with KT and Chloe. Who has helped her over the years deal with the stress of her parents.

Sharing the same birthday they are headed to Wildfire Lake where Laiyla spent her childhood summers with her grandfather. Since he died she hasn’t been back and is heartbroken to discover that his marina and house have fallen into disrepair. Coming here also means the possibility of seeing her first love, Levi, the one she left behind for a work experience trip to Paris and never returned (another one of her parent's decisions).

Although it’s been 12 years since they saw each other the spark is still very much there between them. But Laiyla is only here for a break with her girlfriends, even when she opts to renovate the marina, will she leave once it’s completed? Levi isn’t sure he can watch her walk away again. Includes one of the best love declarations I’ve read.

In Too Deep is a great small town second chance romance.

Wildfire Lake is home to Levi and a place where Laiyla spends her summer visiting her Grandfather. After spending several summers falling in love they were torn apart. Years later, finding the property in ruins, Laiyla is back to town and fighting both the loyal locals and her love for Levi.

I loved the way this trio of women met and the adventure they started together in this story. Levi and Laiyla seemed to move a bit fast back into their romance however when its right its right. Their love story is not without its trials and I'm glad Laiyla learned to stand up for herself!

This is my first read from Skye Jordan and I really enjoyed it.
The first chapter starts of with a bang, the 3 main girls of this series meet and instantly connect. 7 years later their friendship is still strong.

Laiyla is our first heroine and her story is emotional, sweet and just perfect all around. After she left Wildfire Lake years ago she finally decides to go back and can‘t believe what she finds there. Not only has her childhood sweetheart grown up and even sexier then before, her childhood home is also left ib shambles.

I enjoyed this story alot. It‘s very fast paced and perfect for a little read when you don‘t have alot of time. Laiyla and Levi are very very cute together and I can‘t wait for KT and Chloe‘s stories.

In Too Deep is a delightfully sweet, second chance romance chock full of small town charm, heartwarming female friendships, and sexy romantic chemistry. This quick summer read will give you all the swoon-worthy feels as we dive into a story about a woman who finds her love just where she left him- in the charming Wildfire Lake.

Our leading lady Laiyla, on the cusp of the big 3-0 birthday, is heading back to her grandfather’s cabin at Wildfire Lake to meet up with her two besties, KT and Chloe, whom we met in the prologue. Her grandfather passed away a few years ago, and in her grief, Laiyla avoided coming to his cabin, and she finds his property to be much neglected. Laiyla wants to rebuild her grandfather’s marina and restore his legacy, but the townsfolk resent her for not coming back. Who will help her? Her high school sweetheart, Levi, whom she left in the dust broken hearted twelve years ago for a life in Paris. And, enter all the swoons, as these two try to navigate working with each other and learning who they are as people now while trying to make sense of the romantic pull that is still between them. The chemistry is sweet but passionate, with drama present but quickly resolved, letting this story unfold smoothly.

I adored Levi- he’s relatable, grounded, and so charismatic. He’s understandably wounded and distrustful, but he’s such a sweetheart as his core. He’s a total dreamboat, and his long term love for Laiyla, the feeling he’s held on to, just made me love him more. Laiyla took a minute for me to fully adore- especially because I don’t love the oppressive parents trope- particularly in characters who are full adults. And, her passiveness there wasn’t in line with the sassy, strong willed character we saw in Wildfire- but we all know, our family can make us do weird stuff. She warms up though as we start to see her through Levi’s eyes as they reconnect. And, in the moments when she put her foot in her mouth or didn’t stand as strong as I wanted her too, she quickly and gracefully adjusted course, showing some relatable character growth.

The prologue, which takes place a few years before the rest of the book, was quite unexpected. I must admit, for a minute I was worried I was in the wrong book- just where was this going? Turns out Skye was building the foundation for the central thread of this new series- the relationship between these three friends whose sisterhood was cemented by their support of one another in weathering a storm- literally. While I found it a bit lengthy, I also found it to be with the investment later on since KT and Chloe are huge parts of this story- and the center of future books. This prologue wasn’t the prologue for this story alone- it is setting up the interconnections that will drive the series, and I loved this friendship. There were times where it stole the show a bit - they bring the best out in each other and share an unbreakable bond and HEALTHY bond which is all too rare in female friendships in romance novels. I appreciated Skye’s attention to detail with the friendship as well as her careful setting building. Wildfire Lake is so real, so beautiful articulated- I feel like I live there. Given what an important role this place played to these characters individually but also to the landmarks of their relationship- where it started, ended, and began anew- I loved how well we got to know this place as the perfect backdrop and tone setter for this cute second chance story. I’ll be curious to see where Skye goes with this series next!

I initially thought this was slow to start with the first chapter being about the cyclone, Laiyla, and two other women. But as I read on I see it was important to set the friendship up because KT and Chloe supported Laiyla as she found her backbone and confidence to reach for her dream.
As someone exceptionally close to her grandparents, Laiyla’s grief for her grandfather and her despair over the state of his property had me in tears with her. I was really hoping for a bigger showdown between Laiyla and her parents and even though I found the ending rather dramatic, it was necessary for Laiyla and her personal growth.
Levi was too uncompromising and unwilling to accept Laiyla isn’t the same person she was at eighteen. He is set on holding the past as evidence they can’t have a present. It felt like Laiyla went from being unable to deny her parents to unable to deny Levi. I kept waiting for her to find her voice and do things on her terms.
I was confused by the timeline, Laiyla saying she had worked for her parents' hotel for two decades, and being only thirty seems odd.
The scene on the boat. Whoa!

This was a fun read with interesting characters. I am looking forward to KT and Chloe’s books.

In Too Deep is the first book I have read from Skye Jordan and I was completely hooked the moment I started reading and throw in the fact this book is a small town, second chance romance and I am completely sold!

First off, I LOVED the prologue to this story. I loved the introduction to Laiyla and her two instant friends, Chloe and KT all thanks to being stuck in a cyclone together. These girls are serious friendship goals and I want to join them!

Laiyla has been living in the city and travelling the world, but now that she is almost 30 she is returning back to Wildfire Lake where she spent her summers as teen at her Grandfather’s cabin and the place where she met her first love. Of course, when she returns after years away she doesn’t want to run into one person, but Levi just so happens to be the first person she sees again.

I loved Laiyla and Levi’s relationship. It was fun, hot and emotional. They have tons of chemistry between them, even after years apart with no contact. Now that they are both in the same place can they continue what they had as teens or is there no chance for a future?

In Too Deep is a MUST READ and I can’t wait for the next two books in this series!

“Kissing her now after all this time only confirms what I already knew—she ruined me for other women. I gave my heart away as a teenager and never got it back.”

Thank you so much to @skyejordanauthor for providing a copy of this book for an honest review.

In too deep is the first book in the Wildfire Lake series by @skyejordanauthor. Each book of the series can be read as a stand-alone. The book is about two childhood lovers, Laiyla and Levi, that due to circumstances haven’t seen each other for 12 years. However, Laiyla goes back to Wildfire Lake and bumps into Levi. They both share an interest in the marina but they will have to settle their differences to be able to work together.

Their love for one another is undeniable but both have their own issues to go through before they can commit to one another. Laiyla is worried about disappointing her parents and isn’t sure if she is ready to let go of her city life. Levi, on the other hand, is worried that if he opens his heart to the girl he fell in love with 12 years ago he’s going to end up heartbroken and destroyed all over again.

It was such a sweet yet steamy book that was filled with humor and sass. The book was filled with a ton of tension, love, resentment, guilt and is ultimately one of the best childhood lovers and second chance lovers novel I have ever read.
