It took me awhile to get into this book because there were so many different characters to remember and different families and places to read about. Once I got near the end of the book, it all clicked and I was impressed by the book. The appendix at the end explained so much! haha I cannot wait to finish the second book, I actually know all the characters and understand what is going on!

This book is a little long for my short attention span, but I thoroughly enjoyed it, and it was very good. I like a book that, when I'm reading, I don't see the words. Instead, I can see it play out in my mind like a movie in my head. This is a good book for that. The detail really brings this world to life, and you don't get repetitive information.
Spoiler Alert ⚠️
I just have to say how much I don't like Catelyn Stark, though. She should have listened to Ser Rodrik when he warned her about traveling the main road AND staying in the packed inn. And should have listened, but no, she thinks she's so clever. Then she is seen by a Lannister, and instead of coming up with a good lie, she kidnaps him. It's her fault Ned died, plus... Ned's fault. Why warn your dangerous enemy of what you have to do, knowing the high stakes? I'm still sad he had to die, though 😔 And Sansa, the dumb daughter, ugh. Why can't children just obey their parents... I mostly did. It's not that hard. Whelp, reckon I better get stared in the next book.

I feel like I've just run through a whilrwind and made it out the other side. Wow. Once I was past the many, many introductions of characters and was able to get who is who straight in my mind, the intrigue and action had me riveted to the page. All rules have been thrown out the window and nothing and no one is sacred in this book. I've learned to not get too attached to any character after one of my two favourites suffered a demise.
I need to get my hands on Book 2 NOW!
