'Lightness' with words and art by Catherine Meurisse is a graphic novel memoir that is heartbreaking and funny.
Catherine Meurisse was late for work the morning on January 7, 2015. Because she was, she was not at the offices of Charlie Hebdo when two terrorists murdered her coworkers. The trauma and grief leave her in a dissociative state, and this graphic novel shows her journey during that time. From having to deal with her own loss, to the intrusion of having police escorts, Catherine tries to find her place in art and beauty again.
The author/artist is a cartoonist, so that is the style of the art in the book. It works because it is her own. The story is oddly funny at times, just like grief can be. I really enjoyed getting to read this.

Ein Comic, der mit einer gewissen Leichtigkeit, aber auch einer gehörigen Portion Galgenhumor und Gesellschaftskritik versucht, die Schönheit und Lebendigkeit in der Welt (wieder) zu finden und mir dabei sehr an die Nieren ging.
Besonders berührt hat mich eine Szene, in der Catherine mit ihrer Mutter über den Tag spricht.
"Ich wusste noch nichts von dem Gemetzel, ahnte aber das Unsägliche. Ruhig und gefasst habe ich gesagt: '1. Bei Charlie geht was vor. 2. Ich bin in Sicherheit. 3. Macht nicht den Fernseher an." - "Keineswegs. Du hast gesagt: 'Bei Sicherheit geht vor. Ich sehe Charlie fern. Ich mache nichts an.' Ich habe nichts verstanden, ich dachte, du wärst verrückt geworden. [...] Dein Vater wird dir das nicht sagen, aber nach deinem Anruf hat er lange dagesessen, ohne einen einzigen Ton rauszukriegen."

Parce que pour survivre à la noirceur envahissante de l'inconcevable, il faut parfois apprendre à y semer la lumière...

Sus ILUSTRACIONES son preciosas parecen acuarelas y dibujos recién hechos puntos a favor .toca un tema importante que es la libertad de expresión ahora cualquier cosa que no sea políticamente correcta automáticamente es malo si a esas vamos no podríamos hablar de nada y eso es lo que está ocurriendo actualmente de todo se ofenden hasta por tener gustos personales ya se convirtió en discriminación

Catherine Meurisse nos habla aquí de cómo sobrevivió a los días y meses posteriores al atentado en Charlie Hebdo, donde llevaba trabajando como dibujante 10 años. Nos habla de cómo se enfrentó al terrible vacío, al miedo y a la incomprensión.
Es una novela gráfica muy pero que muy intimista y personal que logra transmitir muy bien la terrible sensación de pérdida.
Me ha gustado mucho, parece inconexa y extraña pero logra transmitir mil y un sentimientos, al menos a mi me ha llegado de pleno.

Es una novela gráfica muy pero que muy intimista y personal que logra transmitir muy bien la terrible sensación de pérdida.

Ah ouaiiiis la claque de se replonger dans l’horreur de ces événements... La manière dont Catherine Meurisse a de raconter son traumatisme et sa tentative de « sortir la tête de l’eau » m’a beaucoup touchée.
