Hmmmm. I'm really struggling with rating this book, though I'm definitely going to put it as 4 stars on Amazon, since they consider 3 stars a negative review. I loved some aspects of the story but was a little frustrated by others. However, I want to state right now that this is a well written and entertaining book. I cared about the characters and am looking forward to continuing with the series and finding out more about the RRMC, RJ, Jake and others.

My issues with this book though? Some of the plot verses the excellent and captivating writing. And when I refer to the plot I'm not talking about the massive sci-fi/paranormal twist at the end. I'm a HUGE sci-fi fan girl so I loved that part. No sadly I'm referring to being left with a feeling that of unanswered questions.

It might not be important to the plot but I was puzzled over whether Rae knew her Dad was a member of an MC? I didn't seem that she did, which was odd but never explained.
I was also puzzled as to why Pete had become a prospect with the RRMC if he was so set against joining them.
Also why did Pete feel that Rae was unsafe as it wasn't until he got closer to her that anything began to happen? Why was Rae unsafe? Personally it didn't add up for me as to why she suddenly became a target. Whilst these didn't take away from the overall story they did leave me a little confused. I felt like a toddler with the repeated "Why?".

There were a few other questions I was left with but after corresponding with the author I can confirm that these will be answered in future books, as the world building and story line progresses.

The majority of the story reads like a contemporary romance, and a new adult one, since a large portion of the book is set when Rae is 17 and Pete 18. I did find them very immature in their behaviour at times BUT given their age I assumed the author was doing an excellent job of portraying teenagers. I was correct on this as in the "5 years later scenes" the characters did feel much more mature. So despite not being a fan of new adult books I give the author credit for not making them appear more grown up. Too many NA books have an 18 year old acting and speaking like a 30 year old but this book really captured that teenage vibe well.

I also have to praise the author for how emotionally connected I felt to the characters. There was more than one occasion where it was necessary for me to blink back the tears. The actual love story between Rae and Pete was wonderful and I loved the simplicity of the second chance part. I loved how their love was all transcending.

So this definitely has a thumbs up for me and I will definitely continue with the series.

I am typically not a reader of romance books but this one was pretty enjoyable. I like that the storyline was not lost in the romance and the author paints a very vivid image. I do enjoy perspective switching when it's done right and Nikki Landis executed it perfectly!

I can’t decide on a rating. DNF 90%. Really didn’t like the h. And the H lies to her the whole book. Also walks away from her repeatedly and she just accepts it.
Safe read.

This is the first book that I have read by Nikki. It was enjoyable from beginning to end. It was gripping and kept me on the edge of my seat with what was going to happen next. I completely fell apart when the two main characters got separated and everything happens. This book will reach your emotions. It was indeed an interesting story line. Great book from Nikki. She has gained a fan.

This is an amazing mix of genres and tropes. There is MC, second chance, sci-fi, and a bit of time travel. This is well written with so many raw emotions. Sexy with plenty of passion and edge. I really enjoyed this first in the series and cannot wait to dive into book 2. I really liked the revisions. I was full engrossed and invest on Edge and Rae's story.

Peter "Edge" Harding grew up around the MC world but he promised his dad at a young age that he would never join. Yet when it came down to saving the life of the girl he loved he joined up so her life could be spared and she could be safe away from the Ravage Riders MC (RRMC) and the Outlaws MC.

Rae Stenson was in love with Peter since they were kids and he promised he would always keep her safe. But in order to save her, he had to leave her after everything he did for her in the past.

Now Peter has found Rae again and this time he won't let her go but will the cost be? Can Peter keep Rae safe after all this time when the threat is still there?

This was a great read and there was lots of tension from start to finish with many twists and turns to keep the reader hooked.

I really liked Peter and loved his "alpha" nature. He was in love with Rae from such a young age and would do whatever he could to keep her safe after the death of her father, Ron. He was not a member of the RRMC but his father was and wants Peter as far away from it as possible.

Rae's life turned upside down when her father died and then her mother remarried Charles, known as "Step-Vader". Peter has always kept an eye on Rae and when things turn for the worse he gets Rae out of there as soon as he can. I loved when the two of them began their relationship and how close they were.

I loved Rae and Peter's relationship and how it all started and how the two of them never stopped loving each other. Yet there were some twists and turns that I did not see coming.

There were so many twists and turns that I didn't see coming in reference to the RRMC and the Outlaws. I was definitely surprised at some of the revelations.

So I was completely surprised at the end with what was revealed as I never read the blurb about the book being sci-fi. I was shocked a little but I am really interested in seeing how everything turns out!
