I will hopefully circle back to this later and give a more thoughtful review, but I really, really enjoyed this book. The world building and the characters introduced in this installment of TOG were delightful and complex and interesting, and the developments we see from Chaol and Nesryn blew me out of the water. I know this is not the most liked book in throne of glass by the general reading population, but it’s definitely going to remain one of my favorites.

This book was slow to start and I was skeptical about a side story introducing a whole new map and cast of characters. But my god this was such a great read. SJM is a master at weaving together the breadcrumbs she leaves throughout the series and a pro when it comes to developing her characters. She knows what makes them tick and how to create a satisfying arch for each of them. This was an unexpected 5 star.
