I definitely liked it more than I thought I would, and I liked it more when I got further into the story. At first I wasn’t really a fan of Holden’s characters, but at the same time he’s just a kid so. The part that’s most memorable for me is when he went to NYC and stayed in the hotel. I can feel the depression and despair coming out of the book at me. I absolutely loved that part; it is so depressing to read but it is so real and relatable. I think that’s why this book resonates with so many people. It’s that truly hopeless night in NY that made everything that comes afterwards seem more nice than it appears to be. I’m really glad to see him being real with himself, feeling and conveying real emotions (good or bad) instead of constantly playing this weird character. And the ending is really touching because of the character’s redemption. I wasn’t really a fan of the story or the theme or the character, but I just loved the way it’s written and how it is capable of conveying feelings even though it’s pain and depression.

In the beginning of the book I wasn't really going with Holden as a character. By the end, I love him. He is not your typical teenager in a book or anywhere else really. His thoughts, and the way he expresses himself is just so DIFFERENT and he is such a UNIQUE character that I will never forget. Its hard to describe what I am trying to say about Holden but he isn't a lovable character when you first meet him and he still isn't by the end. That's what I loved about Holden the fact that he isn't lovable he does things he regrets and he makes mistakes left and right and makes very spontaneous decisions that affects his life in a more negative way than positive but he doesn't care. He thinks and does whatever he want's and he lies to people a lot and gets mad easily and nervous. This boy is so lonely and depressed all the time and you really start to feel for him and understand he isn't just forming any connections with the people and environment around him which I related to at some points. In this book nothing much really happens so if you are a plot based person you may not like it because it focuses on one character and their piece of life story. Its just GREAT I can't express how I feel about this book It was just GREAT and I loved it. I am so glad I picked this book up in the library and this is now one of my favorite classics that I have read. Also, I laughed out loud quite a few times Holden is so funny at times It was a great reading experience.
