I hate to Give Dade this low of a review because I loved spoiler alert, and I love her style and concept of creating body inclusive romance novels, but sadly this book lacked a strong C story arch. While it was fun, and I appreciated the characters, I kept waiting for something to happen. It isn’t a bad book, just didn’t give me what I was hoping for.

I think maybe this author just isn’t for me. There’s nothing wrong with this book, it is well done and should have been right up my alley as the love interests are actual adults and have a healthy relationship (both interpersonal and with their bodies) but it just didn’t hold my interest.

Spice: 1/5 - open door, explicit language
Audiobook narration: 3/5 - several mispronunciations in the portions of the book I listened to that led me to stop and check the book to make sure I was not misunderstanding what was being said

I love Olivia Dade so freakin' much! I absolutely adored the way the characters' issues were discussed (in such a healthy! and accepting! and boundary-respecting! and kind manner!!) and she absolutely takes the crown for soft male leads, Martin was an absolute star in this!!

(absolutely did not fucking care to know this much about the US education system, though, and all those bits while - possibly (?? wouldn't know anyway) realistic - bored someone unfamiliar with it out of their mind and kind of interrupted the flow of the story; i get how they are important to the story, but still)

While I appreciated the older MC's with regular jobs, it was kind of boring & bland. There wasn't a lot of build up to anything, and reading about their day-to-day got repetitive (even with the story jumping the timeline at random times).
The FMC also just annoyed me. She just seemed to be trying too hard to be an "ice queen" & was really frustrating. I didn't really care about either of the MC's back stories, either.
Also, the amount of times coffee & how wonderful it is was brought up made me roll my eyes so many times.

Late 30s-Early 40s lead? Check! Woman with curves? Check! Realistic people and jobs? Check!

Cute modern romance.
