*audiobook* Louisa is back to getting 4 stars.. The Mitford Scandal, number 3, took a bit of a dip with only 3 stars but this one definitely brought me back to 4. The mystery was intriguing and having the trial inter spliced throughout the mystery added to that level of ‘wait, what?’ Not overly predictable ending but it definitely made sense and fit the story. Louisa and Guy continue to be relationship goals, stable and sweet. Can’t wait for book 5 in January!

For Louisa Cannon her marriage to her beloved Guy Sullivan should have been the start of a new life. However as Guy is called away from their reception to tackle a potential riot involving the British Union of Fascists, Louisa realises that politics is getting very close to home. Although no longer employed by Diana Guinness she is close to the family and can see Diana's fascination with Oswald Mosley and Unity's obsession with Germany. When she is asked to accompany the sisters on a cruise and to spy on them little does Louisa know that she is walking into a more complex intrigue.
Fellowes' books are actually quite clever. She has used the well-known Miford family as a foil for the development of her independent sleuth Louisa Cannon. Here the politics of Diana and Unity are to the fore as Britain fights the fascist menance. However at its heart this is an old-fashioned murder mystery set on a ship (so very Agatha Christie), with a fun set of characters

I won this book in a raffle. It’s not to my tastes for several reasons: 1. Historical fiction 2. From a series but not the first 3. Largely populated with unlikeable characters 4. Mystery bits seem forced

Amazing - lots of twists and turns and a real page turner. Very readable whilst also playing with some murder mystery conventions so it’s not always completely what you expect. Love how fleshed out the characters were and how there were different strokes going on between characters.

probably the best one so far? hard to tell because i’m not a fan of them. crazy the blatant antisemitism and lack of care by the main character
