3.5 stars. Starts out a bit slow, and the world didn’t really grab me. Once things got moving along, it was more interesting, but I feel like overall it is a big set up for the next book. There’s a lot of world building that needed to happen, so that probably bogged things down a bit. I wish I felt more of an attachment to the characters, but generally, I found them kind of interesting but not terrible deep or engrossing. A good story, with potential.

I received this audiobook free in exchange for my fair and honest review.

This is a good read. I had a bit of trouble getting into the story at first, because I had trouble connecting with the main character Vahly. Once the story got going though, it didn’t let up. There’s lots of action and intrigue as Vahly strives to waken her powers as Earth Queen, to save the land kynds from the action of the sea kynd. The world building is excellent and this book is well written. Overall a very good read.

This was a fun quick ride that left me feeling a baffled as Vahly. Will definitely be back to see what happens to Vahly and Arc!

A promising story of the supposedly last human on earth who was marked as “The Earth Queen” and a fight with dragons against the sea.
Overall I enjoyed the story and plot of the first novel of this series but I felt overwhelmed and confused in places when there was a change in scenes from land to sea. There was a lot of information and some felt it was dragging. By the end I felt the need to want more of the story but I wasn’t sure if I would.
I will continue on with hopes the next novel is more promising.

Dragons, elves, Sea people and humans. Elemental magic for each group. The queen of the Lapis dragon clan helped save the last human when the sea people flooded the lands. Now Vahly has set out to find a ritual to jumpstart her Earth Queen magic. An unlikely band of rebels goes with her. Such a great story!

Vahly is the last of her kind, will she gain the powers to save her family?

This was the beginning of a fun magical adventure.

Entertaining listen about the last human, warring dragons, see what I did there? and elves. Great introduction to a series and I am interested to see how the characters develop! Here for the Earth Queen!

Thanks to Alisha Klapheke for a review copy. Opinions are my own.

I am in for some stories about dragons and elves and merpeople, and this series promises just that.

Loved beginning of this story and look forward to see what happens further as the quest for understanding really starts.

The storyline is interesting, but never just flowed. It felt choppy like it jumped scenes. The main villain is a bit cartoonish and her reasoning for her crimes is just for power. It seems hard to believe an entire race would blindly follow and not revolt. The FMC is strong and likable. The MC and romantic interest is what is to be expected. Their connection and insta lust predictable but they show a level of clear headed adults that know they have more to do then fall into bed. The best friend is my favorite character. It was lovely to see female friendship and support without bickering and backstabbing. I will read on and hope the flow improves.
