I too would go to hell and back for Daniel Arlington.
Leigh Bardugo continues to deliver, and this book was no exception. It's the first in months that I've found myself completely lost in, especially with its perfect blend of dark academia, occult, and secret society vibes. I have a hunch that a second read-through would only enhance my love for this book and series.

I liked it less than Ninth house. The journey to rescue Darlington took forever.
It seemed to me that Alex had almost the same problems as in the first book and that he dealt with them in almost the same way, except for the evolution that was seen in the first part of the saga. It is also true that towards the end of the book it gets interesting and you can see how Alex evolves, both in his reactions to different plans and his relationships with the different characters.
The one I liked the most in this second part is Dawes and the one that intrigued me the most is Turner. I also want to see how Darlington has evolved, as we see little of his character at the end and I'm sure he has changed a lot after his time in hell.

Rated 4.75 because I wish that part II was longer, and the ending felt a bit rushed.

It's been a very long time since I've had the "I don't want this book to end" feeling like this. Everything about Ninth House that made it such a great book only gets better in Hell Bent. I love these characters and how they've been drawn together into the family they are now. Everyone has so well-developed and so likable, I don't want to leave them.

This book works so well because Leigh has so much trust in her readers. She is able to skip around timelines and circle back whenever she wants and knows that we'll trust her to tie everything together. There is confusion in this book and intentional darkness at some points but it's crafted so that when the light switch is flipped jaws will hit the floor.

I'm excited to return to New Haven whenever book 3 comes out, I just don't know how I'll find another book to satisfy me until then.
