I know a lot of people don’t like insta love and fast burn, but this book did it really well. It was just fun, and got my heart fluttering

wasn’t a fan…

*sigh* I really wanted to like this book more than I did. The last few chapters is what saved me from a one or two star review. I found the heroine to be annoying, naive and honestly a pushover. Naivety can be sweet, cute even when done right. Maybe it’s just me but I found the heroine to be annoying though

Loved it!

Loved this rock star romance so much! The chemistry was sizzling and I loved Jax and Charlotte. I can't wait to read the rest of the books in the Heart Beats series

Breanna Lynn did such a great job on her debut contemporary romance novel! I loved the relationship between Jax and Charlie. They both have great character arc. It’s steamy, sweet, and has swoon worthy HEA!

3.5 out of 5 stars

This is the first book of the author's that I've read & it was her debut album too but it won't be the last book of hers that I'll read ,which is why I rounded up rating to 4 stars. This is book 1 in the Heart Beat series but is a standalone. The synopsis gives you an idea of what to expect. It's a good dual pov Rockstar romance about finding love & trying to keep it.

When Charlie & Jax unexpectedly meet at one of his shows with her not knowing his identity at first, they feel something that they hadn't felt with anyone else before. Even though Jax is hitting the road again, they keep in contact making their feelings grow strong enough to the point that they begin a relationship. However, Jax's bad reputation & Charlie's doubts threaten to end their relationship before it can become even more serious.

As she's been recovering from her injuring & questioning whether she'll be able to dance professionally, Charlie is lost & not satisfied with her current life. She is teaching dance to young children & babysitting her younger sister but it's not what she wants to be doing, especially long term. When she meets Jax, not only does he bring love to her life but he helps her gain courage to share her feelings & go after what she truly wants. That courage also applies to how she chooses to be with him in a relationship & how she handles being with him.

Because of past mistakes that he made early in his career, Jax's label has a strong hold over him & it frustrates him. As a reader, you will be able to feel his frustration while understanding why he's being treated the way that he is. However, he knows that he has to stay in their good graces & that causes him to make some less than wise decisions that hurt his relationship with Charlie. Some of those bad decisions he didn't even need the help of his label to do. Readers may not be happy with him at times, though at least for me I recognized that he wasn't purposefully trying to do things that would hurt his relationship. I'm not saying that excuses it but I would've really disliked him if he acted otherwise.

Though the pull to each other is instantaneous & it doesn't take long for them to get together, I didn't mind the pacing of their feelings developing. They were actually able to get to know each other, even if they did keep some things to their selves. Jax's decisions caused the only real conflict & a bit of angst for them but I think readers will be content with how things are resolved. Aside from the romance, I liked Meredith. She was a good friend to both. & I will definitely be reading her & Nick's story. Overall, I think this book is worth a read.

Written in the Beat - Heart Beats #1 - Review

Couple: Charlie & Jax

Author: Breanna Lynn

Tropes: dancer-rockstar romance, innocent FMC, famous MMC, reformed bad boy, first love

Review: This is book 1 in the series and it is written in dual POV first person. The book centers around playboy rockstar Jax and shy, quiet dancer Charlie.

I felt like the two made each other better but had poor communication at times. I did not like how Jax assumed Charlie would understand his life and felt like he made immature moves that really hurt her. I also wanted Charlie to have more of a backbone and fight for herself more.

I liked both MCs together and apart but Charlie was my favorite. I thought her silent strength was inspiring and loved how she stood up for her beliefs. I also like how she tried to reach her goals of being a dancer.

Jax on the other hand was not a big favorite of mine. I wanted him to grow up more and felt like he let a lot of stuff happen the didn’t need to. I liked how he supported Charlie and her dancing though.

The book is mild to intense spice and the couple is full of chemistry. I thought the surprise pregnancy and Charlie’s naivety were written well and am looking forward to seeing them in future books.

Rating: 7.5/10, needed more communication between the two
