Another funny, emotional, fast-paced installment! I'm not ready for the end of this series with the next book.

Bernice takes a reluctant Zoey to England for a Hidden meeting and everyone reacts with alarm to see her out in the open. They are told that every country has now had Aegises attacked and only a handful are left alive. Zoey flees home to find Maurice in a panic, especially when a portal to the demon world opens on their driveway. Talia the Demon Queen is not happy about it and decides to help try and stop it but the church cult which includes Pansy keep chanting to open more. When each portal opens, an aswang leaps through to try to kill an Aegis and if the portal to the zombie world opens, the apocalypse will come.

This was so action packed that I could barely catch my breath and I loved it! Portals are opening to worlds of demons, werewolves, vampires and zombies, and each Portal threatens the lives of our gang, which really had me on edge. Through these portals we get to meet some interesting new characters like Papa Dino, the vampire ruler and Talia the Demon ruler. The weres were also good fun and there was humour in amongst the action, which this author is really good at.

Then there was the emotional angst. Zoey and Riley have split up and are finding it difficult to work together because of it. Stacy is in despair at the amount of time that Maurice is spending with Sara and doesn't think that she can compete. My heart broke for poor Stacy and I so wanted her and Maurice to get back together! I just didn't like the idea of Maurice and Sara as a couple. Maurice is really pissed that his ex wife Pansy is involved with the Cult and giving Zoey such a hard time. I could have hit Pansy at times in this book but she was a really good character. Maurice and his tangled love life feature heavily in this book and I actually enjoyed it! Tashi has good news to share but Aggie hints that her own time is nearly up which alarms Zoey as they are not ready to deal with the threatened apocalypse. Sara gets the chance to have justice against her rapist but Zoey is alarmed at the idea of him coming anywhere near Sara again.

And then came the zombies. The Big Battle where every single creature is in danger and fighting for survival. If the zombies bite you, you become one of them and can never live in this realm again as you are too dangerous. I was in full panic mode watching all the characters I care about going into battle. And of course, there was a moment that made me scream 'noooooo!' and yes, yet again the author made me cry! Why do you DO this to me woman!!! I just can't take any more!!!

The author writes her characters so well that you just connect to them and love them, so it breaks your heart when bad crap happens to any of them. The wonderful thing about these books is the emotion the reader invests in them-you laugh, you cry and your anxiety levels go up and down as each new problem occurs. It is just so well written with the perfect amount of angst, action, laughs and romance. I recommend these books so much!

Zoey heads off to a get together with all the Aegis’s as well as the leaders of the area. Only upon arriving she learns quickly that she’s not the only Aegis that was under attack and numbers are dwindling dramatically. Returning home, she learns that it’s not over someone is determined to slay all the Aegis’s at any cost and is using magical portals to other worlds to bring creatures to kill them. Being forced to stay in the safety of her own home isn’t what she had planned but it’s the only way to stay safe with the looming threat

As if being stuck at home isn’t bad imagine being protected by your ex-reaper boyfriend who like Zoey isn’t over the other. At least Zoey isn’t alone her mother another Aegis is safe and she’s made a lot of hidden friends to help out. As the body count starts to go up and the living Aegis is quickly dwindling they need to figure it out or they will be the last. Will Zoey and her friends be able to stop the looming zombie apocalypse that will end their world? What about her relationship with Riley? Who is the demon in her driveway?

I like Zoey a lot she’s one of my favorite characters in the urban fantasy world. While she may be human she has some magic up her sleeves as an empath and protector of the hidden. Over the years she’s made some strong friendship’s even bringing her friends into the hidden world like Sara. I found Sara’s aspect in the story very intriguing and was hoping that things would work out for her. I’m such a fan of Zoey and Riley they just complement each other so well even if things haven’t been working out I have hope.

Demons in my Driveway is the 5th installment in the Monster Haven series. First off I love the concept for the Monster Haven Series it’s unique and each novel gives us a new insight into the hidden world. I admit I’m not a huge fan of demons so I was a little skeptical as to the role they would play in this book. However, Demons in my Driveway doesn’t disappoint it’s action packed, filled with mystery and just enough romance to leave you wanting more. The characters are great I’ve fallen in love with Zoey and Maurice and secretly hope that one day I’ll find a house with my very own closet monster. The author has created another beautifully done installment in the Monster Haven series and I can’t wait to see what’s going to happen next.

Zoey Donovan is one of the very few Aegis left in the world. She helps the Hidden stay safe in the human world. Her house is generally bursting at the seems with creatures that need some help or somewhere safe to stay. This time around things are a bit different. Zoey's mother is back in the picture and living at her house. But that's not the only change, the reaper boyfriend we've all grown to love is out of the picture, though they're still friends. Being an Aegis is taking a toll on Zoey, and it will just get worse since the other few Aegis's are being killed one by one. Someone is opening portals and releasing monsters, which is causing a lot of issues. With Zoey on lock down in her house so she doesn't leave the protection, she has to somehow figure out who is behind the attacks before it is too late.

While this installment wasn't go go go like the previous book or two, it was still a pretty solid addition to the series. I'm so sad that the next book is marked to be the last one but I am happy to hear that there will be additional books from that world in the future. Zoey has gone through so much since she found out she's an Aegis, and I hope to see it wrapped up nicely in the next book. I highly suggest this series if you're looking for a unique Urban Fantasy.
