Eleventh in the Honor Harrington military science fiction series (and thirty-fourth in the Honorverse), revolving around two war fronts.

And that title just ain't kiddin'! It was all costs in this installment. A Grayson-style marriage, assassinations and deaths from battle (I'm still crying over three of 'em!), births..it's got 'em all. Reverend Sullivan does a nice end run in this one...hee-hee-heeeee.

The Shadow of Saganami takes place during the action in this one. That Oversteegen sure gets around...

And the battle to end all battles...but who has won in the end...?

I'm getting to the point where I often skim. War turns my stomach.

reading this book was an emotional roller coaster, but after 10 books you feel like you know all the characters and you just feel everything they feel

More interpersonal relationship stuff than political - which I feel Weber does better. Or maybe which I just enjoy more.

This was my May BOTM club read, for sci-fi. It was quite the tomb. We meet Honor again, out gunned and the underdog. But as always never count her out. There were some great growth moments in her personal life as well. I'm not sure I really like the direction Weber went, but I feel he stayed true to Hornor's personality in the situation. I admit, a beloved character dies in the final chapters and I was heart broken.

4.5/5.

One of the better-paced books in the series. Minus half a star because there are still so many loose threads at the end of the book. (I'm sure he plans on addressing them later, but I'd really like to know now!)

A lot better than the previous one. Not that this would be very difficult.

Still a lot of political BS though and I'm concerned about these plot elements that seems to introduce another party bent on more of the same behind the scenes dirty political plotting and backstabbing. I hope he wont go down that road to much in the next book(s).
