A great follow up to the Way of Kings. The pacing is much tighter now that our main characters (Shallan, Kaladin, and Dalinar) are closer together, and we don’t have to jump from place to place. While the previous book focused on Kaladin and his backstory, WoR focuses exclusively on Shallan’s backstory and her shocking secret about her parents.

There were also moments where you just want to scream at Kaladin and tell him to just trust Dalinar, but that’s the great thing about these characters. Yes, the lack of communication is frustrating, but they eventually learn from it, in truly spectacular fashion.

Overall, this book has a rich complex story with characters that you can’t help but cheer for
