This is a really fun cozy mystery that called to me off the library shelves. Reggie Heath is a London barrister who has just taken out a lease on a chambers in Baker Street in London. He has got a really good deal on the lease and is not quite sure why - until he discovers that his office is responsible for responding to the hundreds of letters each year which arrive addressed to Sherlock Holmes. Reggie's younger brother Nigel is also a lawyer who is waiting for a hearing from the Law Society to see if he can still practice. In the meantime, he is working with Reggie and one of his administrative tasks is to answer the letters to Sherlock Holmes. There is a standard form to do this and Reggie figures that Nigel can't get into too much trouble. That is until he discovers the dead body of another employee in Nigel's office and Nigel himself seems to have followed up one of the letters by going to Los Angeles. Dead bodies appear wherever Nigel has been and soon Reggie is in a chase to catch up to Nigel and what's really going on with all the gas explosions that are happening in the subway construction. Very fun book with great characters.

Not as "Sherlocky" as I had hoped, but a good mystery story. It took a bit to get going and the resolution felt a bit forced. Might try another in the series to see if they improve.

Listened to the audio by Simon Vance. A great narrator.

Looked as though it might be fun, but the characters didn't ring true.

Just discovered this great series featuring barrister Reggie Heath and his solicitor brother Nigel whose offices are located at 221b Baker Street, London. As a condition of their office lease (first book I've ever read where a lease provision is crucial to the plot!), the Heath brothers are required to answer all letters addressed to Sherlock Holmes which are delivered to their offices on a daily basis. Great writing and fun characters. I highly recommend the series to all the Anglophiles out there.

This would be a great addition to Masterpiece Mystery!

I really liked this book. It was a little slow at first but then it really grabbed my attention. The only complaint I have is the ending. It just kind of ended, I mean it finished the story but I felt that there was something missing. But besides that it was great. You should definitely pick up this book.

Good for a first book. I'm anxious to see what happens with Lords of London.

Set in modern day London and Los Anglos, but still had the charm of a cozy who-done-it. I’ll be reading a lot more of this series.

I was lucky and enjoyed this as an audio almost completely in one sitting. I thought the audio was well done and the story was entertaining.

However, I can see a lot of the same issues that others complained about. There were many plot parts I had a tough time believing - that an attorney wouldn't fully read a contract before signing? - but I was able to overlook a lot of that for just sheer entertainment value. I enjoyed it.
