A satisfying and worthy conclusion to a brilliantly executed retelling of a classic. The artwork masterfully expanded on the characterizations and scenery and action, allowing the story to have the emotional weight Gundam fans and newbies alike can appreciate while also allowing the plotting to thrill and keep us turning pages. This entire adaptation was great, to be sure. This finale was superb and has a famously optimistic sentiment (perhaps more so than the original Gundam series) that works on many levels. 4/5 (because the only thing that might have improved upon it would have been to alter the ending from the source material but then it wouldn’t be Gundam, would it?)

A conclusion to one of the more gorgeously illustrated, science fiction manga series in print, "Mobile Suit Gundam The Origin Volume 12: Encounters" by Yoshikazu Yasuhiko puts the war and confrontation to bed one way or another for this characters we have grown to know and appreciate.

Overall, I would give the series a strong 3.5 out of 5 stars in terms of plot, development of characters, and moral conclusions. I am glad I completed the series, and would potentially give it another read through at a later time. I do want to watch the intergalactic battles play out in the anime series, and see how the score I pictured while reading the manga actually sounds.

Would I recommend this series to someone who new to manga, or to science fiction? Maybe, but perhaps after another series that is beginner friendly.

If you do read or watch the series, I hope you find something enjoyable in its beginning, and in its end!

This is a really impressive conclusion to the series, both in terms of the final chapters of the story proper, and the three side stories (two of which are set between the original series and Zeta).

And with this volume, I have officially finished my first Gundam series. It's really good, but I kinda wanted more closure regarding all the characters and such, although I bet that's already covered by the likes of the other Gundam shows, huh? Either way, I recommend this series to all fans of Gundam, new and old, and possibly to fans of anyone seeking either a terrific sci-fi series or a war story, as everything about this series is essentially how people deal with war.

I've been reading the series for awhile and even though I knew the story was tying itself up, I wasn't ready for it to end! The art was amazing. I was really captured with the characters by the end, too. There are a few bonus stories with some of the characters, an epilogue of sorts that finishes up nicely. Thanks for being a awesome series Mobile Suit Gundam: The Origin! GUNDAMUUU!!!

Ummmm....yeah...
I'm still not entirely clear on the whole "newtype" thing, but Casval went off the rails. Like from "charming asshole in a mask" to "dude, what the fuck is wrong with you?" in about two seconds. Still, glad I was able to finish the series and play in that universe for a while.
