Rudy Rucker's SF tends to be a mixture of sex, mathematics, surrealism and computer science, with a definite California flavor in later years. The sex isn't as gratuitous as (say) John Varley, but it's sometimes as weird. But if you want to read about hyperdimensional squid attacks while surfers escape on software-controlled waves, this is the book for you.

If you need an introduction to Rudy Rucker, I'd suggest maybe starting with his novel "Software".

The only negative about this collection is that reading through it story after story was a bit like eating an entire box of chocolates in one sitting. I would probably have done better to go read something else for a few weeks after each story.
