I think this is the best contemporary or "new adult" romance that I've read...at least as a free ebook download!

Well-written (she actually has an editor that knows what they're doing, it seems), good story, great ending.

Perfect summer read.

Like all Aly Martinez books I really enjoyed this story. I didn't feel quite as connected as her previous series to the main characters. It felt just a tiny bit forced, so with that I unfortunately have to give 4 really liked it stars.

I really liked Henry, and the thought of an MM story has me super excited so I'm off to immediately start his journey now!

I wanted to like this book a lot. There was just this one glaring thing that I couldn't ignore.

Levee Williams, pop star, and Sam Rivers, entrepreneur meet on a bridge one night both believing the other is there to jump off. After a few nights of talking, Levee finally unwillingly unveils her true identity. From there, they jumped into a whirlwind romance with a little bit of drama.

While the chemistry between the characters was cute, and two-thirds of the story was interesting, there was this glaring fact that it was boarderline insta love. While yes, they did know each other for a week, they didn't really know each other. When she showed him who she really is, they jumped right into her car, went to the house and from there a relationship was formed. idk, I just didn't like the build up. I found I needed more.

For the cute story, it gets a 3.5 rating. It lost a full star for the romance starting too suddenly in my opinion and half a star because even after that, it was hard for me to fully immerse myself in the book. It took me 3 days to read when it should have taken me only an afternoon because I just couldn't get into it. at 50% I almost DNF'd tbh but by then I just wanted to see how it ended so I stuck it out, plus it wasn't a bad book so there was no reason to really stop reading it. Regardless it didn't hook me as much as I would have liked or how much I would have thought it would

This is a sweet book. It touches on some hefty subjects, but over all it is a typical romance

I couldn't wait to read The Fall Up by Aly Martinez when I first heard about it. I will be honest and admit that I really didn't even pay attention to the blurb once I saw her name, but I just knew that I would like it if she wrote it. This book is a complete standalone and I am so glad that I read it. It was a good story, I liked the characters a lot and I absolutely loved the cover. This one was emotional while also being really funny. It isn't often that you get such humor in a book with such serious content, so that was really refreshing here.

Being a pop princess, Levee was used to living in the spotlight and never having much time for herself. Somewhere along the way she lost herself. But when she meets a handsome stranger, she finds that a simple conversation changes everything for her. Sam Rivers has no idea who the mystery woman is, but he knows that he can't stop thinking about her and he will do whatever it takes to keep her from jumping. The bridge might be where they met, but he is determined to keep her away from there and help her no matter what it takes. The more time that Sam and Levee spend together, the closer they get. But there was a reason they were each on that bridge the night they met, and they will have to figure out if those reasons can continue to bring them together or if they will eventually tear them apart.

I liked Sam and Levee a lot. These two were great together, and the connection they shared was so natural and genuine. Sam was interested in Levee long before he knew who she was, and it was so good to see that her fame wasn't important to him. Sam and Levee were both really good people, and it was clear that each of them had their own problems they were dealing with. Sam had a lot of pain in his past, and was still struggling to deal with it. While Levee was living a life most would dream of and yet she was struggling as well. I loved seeing these two get to know one another though and find the support and encouragement that each needed. The chemistry was there right from the start, but so was the connection and it just felt like these two were meant to find one another. They had great banter and were a lot of fun to read about.

I did think that this story had a lot of humor to it, which was surprising considering the content. I thought it had some emotional times as well, and for the most part there was a pretty good balance making this an entertaining read. The one thing that I would have liked to have seen though was a bit more depth considering the topics dealt with here though. I think that there were some missed opportunities because of what was going on and I wish that we had been given a bit more. I think that Aly Martinez is a great writer, but I do feel like she could have dug a bit deeper here for each of these characters and it felt like a bit of fluff when it could have been more. There was a lot to love here though, and I did really like these two together. I would recommend this book and Aly's others as well as she is a really great writer. She always delivers the emotions, heat and humor that keep you turning pages and anxious for more. I know I will continue to read her books in the future, and I am looking forward to seeing what she comes up with next.

There’s something to be said for trusting your friends with a book recommendation and diving in without reading the synopsis. So many people told me I had to read this book, but I didn’t know much about The Fall Up other than the fact that the protagonists meet on a bridge under mysterious circumstances.

This is such a sweet, sweet story. Levee is a woman in crisis. Her life is in chaos, and although she struggles to maintain control, she’s failing spectacularly. Sam is attempting to exorcise some demons from his past. They’re both at a crossroads in their lives when their chance meeting occurs, and for some reason they are inexorably drawn to each other.

Levee’s career makes her relationship with Sam complicated and unconventional, but it feels very real nonetheless. Their humor, undeniable chemistry, sultriness, and determination make the book quite enjoyable. The story touches on some deep topics, and although Levee and Sam are both sympathetic characters, there were moments I found it difficult to fully appreciate Levee’s issues. Sam is so trustworthy and caring. He’s instrumental in Levee’s healing, but I worried that perhaps being with Levee might cause him more harm than good. I fell hard for Sam, but I loved them both from the start.

The story drags a little in a couple places, but the winsome characters, enthralling premise, and stellar writing make it well worth the read. The next book in the series features Levee’s flamboyant best friend, Henry. I’ve already added [b:The Spiral Down|30194656|The Spiral Down (The Fall Up, #2)|Aly Martinez|https://d.gr-assets.com/books/1463354975s/30194656.jpg|47223792] to my TBR list!

This was a cute story. I have read a few of Aly's other books and liked them. I won't read the second one as I'm not a fan of parallel series. This book had a great set of topics from addiction to mental health disorders. All of which are relevant. I would've liked more balance with Devon towards the ends but I think it wrapped up ok.
