ADDICTIVE!!! Thank you NetGalley and Bookouture for granting me access to this book in exchange for an honest review.

What an emotional and darkly twisted psychological thriller that kept me guessing to the very end!! This is my first read by Nicole Trope and it did not disappoint! It has suspense, tension, drama, secrets, lies, jealousy, betrayals, many unexpected twists and turns, fast pacing, unique plot, rich character development and an ending that left me totally SPEECHLESS😶!!! You know that saying, I did not see that coming!?! Well, I could not believe what was happening and did not see that coming! Also, gotta love unreliable narrators🙃! So when you think you have it figured out, I suggest you think again🤔I was completely engrossed from the very beginning and could not stop reading because I had to know what happened! Everything I was hoping for and MORE!! I absolutely LOVED it so much and is another thriller to add to my favorite list for 2023!! ♥️♥️♥️♥️♥️

Leah and Katelyn have been life long best friends since they were six years old. Now three decades later, they are still bff's and have no secrets between them. When Katelyn wakes up in the hospital with no memories of the night of her thirty-six birthday party she discovers she has been diagnosed with Global Transient Amnesia (TGA) that can be brought on by stress. She still has all her other memories just not the ones from her birthday party. Toby, her husband, says nothing happened at the party but Katelyn knows he is lying and hiding something. Even Leah seems to be acting strange and hiding details from her which causes Katelyn to be more suspicious. What really happened to make her lose her memory of that night? Better yet, is she faking the amnesia?

Overall, it is an entertaining and gripping domestic psychological thriller that will have you on the edge of your seat till the very last page! I cannot wait to read more books by this author and I highly recommend!!! 🌟🌟🌟🌟🌟🎂🎂🎂🎂🎂

I feel like this was more of a drama/soap opera then thriller but I still enjoyed it. I've been putting off reading a book by this author for over a year, now that I have, I wasn't disappointed. Can't wait to read more of her works.

I received an ARC of this book through NetGalley.

I did enjoy the way Trope writes, but the story fell flat for me. The characters were unlikeable, the friendship between Leah and Katelyn was weird and I couldn't for the life of me understand how they kept in touch in all those years. It also confused me how in some parts Leah was the one described as popular and most beautiful, that some of her friends didn't want to be with Katelyn. And then Katelyn was described as more popular and Leah as the lonely one. It was confusing. The story was definitely not a thriller but more of a drama, full of lies. Trigger warning for domestic abuse and rape.

Nicole Trope’s latest, “The Day After the Party,” is the story of a woman who suffers memory loss on the night of her birthday, a night when many things go wrong and secrets are made, kept, and revealed. Is her memory loss real, or a convenient way to “forget” things she does not want to remember?

The book is told from two points of view, and switches between the present and the past. It centers around two couples, one still together and one who have divorced, and the ties and lies that bind them to one another. Katelyn and Toby are married with a small child; Leah and Aaron are divorced and share nothing but animosity for one another and their overlapping friendships with Katelyn and Toby.

I enjoyed the descriptive way Trope wrote her scenes, but found none of the characters remotely likable, which made it more difficult to care about the outcome of the story. I had a lot of questions about who had done exactly what, and to whom, as the story made its way (slowly at times) towards its conclusion, and while I had not figured out ahead of time how it would end, I did not find the conclusion all that interesting. For a book marketed as a psychological thriller, this felt more like a suburban drama/mystery to me.

Thank you to NetGalley and Bookouture for an ARC of this book in exchange for my honest review.

This book started off strong. Temporary amnesia definitely was a good story line. 3/4 of the way through the book and it took a turn which I wasn’t a huge fan of.
