It’s been such a beautiful journey being back in the shadowhunter world again. I swear I didn’t feel as connected to these characters in book 1 & 2 and book 3 just had me in absolute love. The character development and stunnning relationships is something Cassandra Clare just excels at.

Jesse & Grace & Alastair really stole the show for me. Like I said certain character developments were beautiful. The Merry Thieves felt really disconnected due to some secrets at the first half and then we were all together and thriving and it was amazing. Cordelia & Lucie were really going through it. But by the end they worked it all out and knew they could rely on each other and did. Their journey was especially a lovely one.

The little snippets of the parents, our cast from TID. Especially Will & Tessa being so understanding of Jesse and making him feel welcome.

I’m sure I cried a good few times, out so sorrow and heartache for these characters. The plot especially in the last half was better. It was definitely giving me flashbacks of TMI & TDA especially. That little convo at the end from a certain warlock….

Overall, I’m sad to see these characters go. Happy to see them happy and content after everything they have been through. Upset that we won’t be getting another spin off this of this trilogy featuring their children. But this just makes me look forward to TWP.

25/02/23: as I’ve sat on the book for a while now there are some things I want to mention. This CC book just felt a bit different in terms of writing style and enjoyability. It definitely hit but didn’t have that impact I was expecting from a CC finale. I hasn’t noticed how long it actually has been since book 2s publication. And looking back I wouldn’t say this is my fav book of the 3. It felt a lot longer than it needed to be as well.

I gave the first two books five stars but this one just did not get me as excited as the other two. I just think it could’ve done better. But I have to give it a four because I love these characters so much

ohhhhhh my goodness. do i have a lot to say. it took me the longest to read this book out of every shadowhunter book i have read, not because it was long, but because it was dragging out and low key felt like a chore to read. especially after the intermission. the best freaking character DIED and i had no motivation to continue. the characters barley even made a fuss about it!! they accepted it so quickly!!! speaking of the characters.... they are so stupid. making dumb decisions every single freaking page omg. i wanted to slap some freaking sense into them every time i flipped the page. i did *like* the characters... cordelia and james are cool, matthew's stupid but cool, lucie and jesse are cute, thomas, alastair, ari, anna, and grace are fine, christopher is incredible but OF COURSE. he is the one who died. and after the intermission i had no motivation to read, not only becuase of kits death but also becuase of the plot. like going to edom to save the world? like thats been freaking done before. PLUS in heavenly fire the villan was like actually cool unlike belial, who wasnt written very well and didnt have a cool backstory like sebastian. and all the romance was like done. all the endgame couples were together so i was like who am i supposed to be rooting for now. thank u cassandra clare for not killing oscar because i was very scared for him and i would be sadder if he died than if any of the other (living) MC's died. all in all this was my least fave shadowhunter universe series. im sorry cassie c i love you but this just felt very repetitive and u killed my bae. very excited for wicked powers and i jaw dropped when it was mentioned in the epilogue.

i can’t believe it, but this is absolutely my favorite TMI series yet! i thought it would be hard to top TDA because i loved emma and julian so much but damn… cordelia and james… they are everything!!! the plot was also super interesting and distinct from the other series. it was refreshing to see TID characters and have them be so present in their kids’ stories.

not only was the main couple heart wrenchingly compelling but the side pairings were JUST AS GOOD!! and there were soooo many gays. i loved Jesse and Lucie, Thomas and Alastair, and Anna and Ari SO MUCH. and the third book in particular was just so good and emotional. i cried a lot.

i definitely could’ve done without the love triangle, especially with two parabatai… and i still hate Grace despite that scene with Kit that made me die inside, but other than that, this was a PERFECT trilogy in this world. the vibes were amazing, the plot was cool, the gays were gay, and the found family was cozy af. i will never hate a TMI extension. and i CRAVE the next one in my bones (i need Ty and Kit so bad cassie pls get right on that)
