I'm kind of new to the Extreme Horror game. Oh, I've dabbled in it...The Girl Next Door...Savaging the Dark, and a couple others.
Cattywampus is a really fun book. It's got more flip-flopping twists than any book I've read.
As soon as you think you've figured it out, whoops! Wrong again.
Like most extreme horror books, this one clocks in at just over 100 pages, so you can read it in the time it would take to watch a movie.

Title says it all

Fun and gloriously twisted! Disturbing and not at all predictable. I relish reading more of the books in this series.

After finishing Rattlesnake Kisses recently, I'd been eyeing the copy of Cattywampus on my TBR cart. It didn't take much to convince myself that I should just go ahead and read this one, as I didn't want to leave Boden and Ford's "Knucklebucket thang" universe so soon, and they have both claimed a spot on my favorite authors list.

In just over 100 pages, the authors have managed to tell another unforgettable tale. I  had no idea where this one was going, and it was a fun ride. I was cracking up at the dialogue and the characters' antics by the second or third page, but then left in shock a couple of pages later when the story took a turn into more serious territory. Despite some serious moments, this one is still sprinkled with the bits of humor and heart I've come to expect from these authors. There are several twists and turns that you likely won't see coming, and if you've read other work from these two, you'll love that there are certain characters who make a brief appearance in this story. (On that note, this is enjoyable as a standalone, however, I'd highly recommend reading Rattlesnake Kisses and Spungunion prior to this one for a full appreciation of all that's included). I can barely contain my excitement when I think of what's next to come in this series! In the meantime, I'll be daydreaming about what's in store.

Cattywampus is the kind of book that makes zero effort to make friends. You're either going to get along with this one or you're going to quit reading it sometime after all hell breaks loose which is damn near page one.
I can't think of a better author collaboration than John Boden and Bob Ford--their unique voices compliment each other so well! Both authors have a natural knack for turning a phrase that jumps off the page and either makes you cringe or laugh out loud. After reading Rattlesnake Kisses, I didn't think Boden & Ford could ever keep that kind of steam going but this book, CATTYWAMPUS, not only met my expectations but ran off ahead with my expectations and blew them up!
Darlene and Shelia are these two women with nothing in common. One of them gets fired from the place of business where they are both employed. In an act of retaliation against her boss, she finds something and brings it back to the store--from this moment forward, any and all varieties of crazy transpires.
The reader is just a mere observer of all the madness and insanity that transpires.
There were a few times where I stopped dead in my tracks and dug my heels in--"I do NOT want to read about THIS"
But then, there's no good place to stop reading--the storytelling is that compelling! I'm also glad I didn't give up because things are not always what they seem and this bizarre tale has a few tricks up its sleeves! I should have known to expect the unexpected with the likes of Boden and Ford.
I loved this book, Cattywampus is the perfect title for this off-kilter, unconventional, zero-to-sixty style novel. The Knucklebucket Thang series is a surprise favorite for 2019. I never want it to end. More, more, more Crazy Sauce!

Boden and Ford capture lightning in a bottle once again. Their first book, Rattlesnake Kisses ended up being one of my favorite books of the year, and this follow up was another winner. A tour de force of misdirection, killer characters, sharp dialogue, and a completely off the rails bonkers plot, that changes about every five pages or so. I never had any idea where this was going. And by the third quarter in, I was smiling ear to ear about where we ended up. :) I don’t want to say anymore, because you need to discover things yourself. As a heads up, there are some deeply disturbing things occurring in this book. The worst kind of horror is the horror that human beings sometimes perpetrate on each other, and this book has that in abundance. John Boden and Bob Ford are proving to be a winning combination, and I for one, can’t wait to see what they cook up next.
