I struggled to enjoy this book. I picked it up as I thought the concept was great, a booked based on folktales with characters borrowed from English, Welsh, Scottish and even French folklore. It just didn't work though, for me the author had to pad out what would have been a short story into something long enough to become a novel and all that padding was boring and just plain.
