This ain’t your mama’s regency romance. Literally everyone in this book is queer (as it should be) and the FMC has complete and unquestioned bodily autonomy (again, AS. IT. SHOULD. BE.) 500 stars.
Holy crap why have I been sleeping on this book?! It’s absolutely lovely. It’s everything that Cat Sebastian does so brilliantly - hilarity, snark, humor, found family.
I don’t read a lot of MF fiction. In fact the only MF romance I’ve read in the last decade would be another one by Cat Sebastian (Marion Hayes, HIGHLY recommend). I loved every second of this. I stupidly kind of assumed it was going to be just another riff of any MF Regency romance novel that I had read at any point throughout my early reading career and it was the exact opposite. I don’t know why I had any doubts.
The FMC knows her mind and has zero patience or tolerance for anyone who questions it. The MMC is sweet and a bit grumpy and kind of emotionally dumb but thankfully his ex-boyfriend/BIL Lex is at hand to tell him how dumb he is. Lex deserves a medal. Lex is my favorite.
Also I wanted to drop a tiny spoiler since I know lots of people hate surprise pregnancies in books: while effective birth control was practically nonexistent at this time, there are zero pregnancies in this book and the couple do what they can to avoid it happening.
All in all, a lovely read despite being outside of my usual reading niche.

Not nearly as interesting as Unmasked by the Marquess, also not a fan of kids in romance. Their bisexuality seems more convenient than a vital part of the story.
Mostly finished this to get Cat Sebastian to replace JKR from my top authors.
