This would have been 2 stars if the audio version was done a little better. (And I'm glad Goodreads changed it's one-star rating from "hated it" to "didn't like it." Thank you, Goodreads!) This story wasn't a good choice for me and I should have just put it down, but I kept going in hopes that it would be better. Full review here.

Hard to put down. Good combination of mystery, family intrigue, supernatural(?), with a female protagonist. Sometimes a little confusing with the relationships at the end of the book, but otherwise very intriguing and mysterious. Love the unexpected plot elements that I didn't see coming. Was very surprised about Phyllis. Also surprised by the ending. I wanted to know more about what Evie tells Phoebe at the book's conclusion. Maybe there'll be a sequel! I liked the jumping back and forth between present day and 15 years in the past. I would recommend this book to readers who liked The Lovely Bones, The Girl Who Chased the Moon, and Still Missing, to name a few.

I couldn't put this book down. It's the kind that has you saying 'one more chapter' deep into the night. An intriguing horror story that pulls you along as it gradually reveals the terrifying truth at its core. Told from the alternating perspectives of Phoebe from the present and Lisa from the past, it delves into the mystery of Lisa's disappearance 15 years ago and the repercussions it has on Phoebe and her boyfriend Sam in their current day relationship. Nothing is as it seems and the ending will leave you chilled to your core.

I wanted to like this book but for some reason couldn't get into it. It was pretty creepy at points and switches back and forth over a 15 year period of time. It left a lot of things unresolved and the ending wasn't satisfying.

I thought it was slow to start but it really drew me in. All I can say, is nothing is as it seems.

This book started off really well and had me hooked, but the further it got into the story, the less interested I was, and the end left much to be desired. I loved all of the secrets and mysteries, but sadly once the truth was revealed, it just wasn't worth all of the build-up. The end was rushed and almost unrecognizable from the beginning. I gave this four stars because of how much I enjoyed the first half, but really it ends up about 3 1/2 stars.
