It's a fun and quick read. I was pleasantly surprised!

I read this in high school and wanted to revisit it as an adult. I still found it charming and fun, and I enjoy that the romantic protagonist is a male character when so often romance is told from a female perspective.

Knocked off a star because Melissa was so damn irritating.

Reminds me of Nick and Norah's Infinite Playlist. The characters have interesting personality conflicts and depths - Sam is both Sam and Conan. He is both the rich kid and the heavy metal devotee. He is at the same time very confident in himself when he is in the heavy metal world, and less confident when he's with his friends and girlfriend. I also appreciated that the story isn't totally black and white. The characters are torn when their allegiances are tested and no one is made out to be the bad guy. Refreshing.

I relate very well to this book. But seeing as how I'm a girl and this book is by a boy it's very limited. I recommend this to all Heavy Metal and Hard Rock music listeners out there!

This is a slim book, the story of a boy with a bad temper and a love for music, who is often written off as a metal head rather than genuinely listened to. It's a pretty good read with a unique writing style
