Overall, I enjoyed my experience with this book, but, even though I finished it only a couple weeks ago, I have already forgotten most of the plot. In fact, I think that this is a perfect summer read to binge in a single day, but not necessarily one that will stick with you for long.
In addition, I found some plot twist a little predictable and the general story very average.
What actually entertained me the most is probably the exploration of the toxic group of friends that we follow as main characters.
I would recommend this book when looking for a fast paced and no-brain mystery to get out of a reading slump, since the writing style flows really well and easily.

This was very entertaining. Dysfunctional friendships, dysfunctional people. The worst time of their lives. It’s all in here if that’s what you’re looking for. From the very beginning I was yelling noooooooo!!!!!

Where do I even start? I was in a Waterstones (english equivalent of Barnes & Nobles) when I read the blurb on the back of this novel, and decided to pick it up as it reminded me a lot of We Were Liars. Well, let’s just say the blurb wasn’t the only detail similar to We Were Liars.

The summer before college, Hannah and her group of friends decide to spend a day hanging out in the forest. Disaster quickly strikes as they accidentally instigate a fire during the dry summer of California, a fire that sews devastation.

As the group of friends come to terms with what they’ve done, they form various plans to cover up their tracks as to not let anyone find out. This YA thriller eventually turns into a mystery as one of the characters goes missing and Hannah (our main character) suffers a traumatic brain injury and is unable to decipher what happened to her friend.

This twisted story about love, obsession, lies, and destruction genuinely had me unable to take my eyes off the novel. It was so interesting having such an unreliable narrator go through this story because you naturally love Hannah and as the story progresses, you realize how obsessive and destructive she actually is.

This novel is definitely comparable to We Were Liars and its new prequel, Family of Liars. Luckily, I really enjoyed both of those novels so reading Lies Like Wildfire had me fully encapsulated and enthralled. Though, I could imagine someone who disliked E. Lockhart’s plot devices not enjoying this as well, as they carry similar tropes and storylines.

Regardless, I loved this novel and could not believe it was a debut. I’ll definitely tap into whatever the author writes next..

if the cast of Outer Banks lived in a forest instead of on an island.

This book was definitely fast paced. It all happened in a blur. I don’t think I would remember anything after a week. The book felt like it was caught up in the mystery to explore all the characters not just some of the main ones.

ugh all of these book club books are the same. they’re always mystery thriller and they always read like you’re watching a shitty netflix show. i understand why some people like them but when i read i’m looking for a good book. if i wanted mediocre but entertaining thriller i’d watch tv!! but i also feel bad rating these books so low bc even tho it’s not what i want, i still ate it up. i read this in two days 😭😭 (ik it says for but i didn’t read at all for the two days in the middle)
