I loved these stories! Went ahead and bought the remaining Holmes cases, so my collection can be complete. As I read I felt like I was getting better at solving the cases alongside Sherlock. And the language of the period is delightful. Caveat: lots of racism and some sexism ahoy, although that's unfortunately not surprising. But if you can tolerate that I really recommend these stories. Each one (excepting the novels) is quite short so reading one or two is not much of an investment at all.
