If you liked Charles Burns' Black Hole, this is an almost perfect readalike. (Neither are appropriate for a school library, though--waay too explicit.)

Basically the talented Mr. Ripley in comic book format.
I liked David Boring, but on the beauty of the book emerged when I read it a second time. Weirdly I kept thinking that I was reading a classic french novel. Reading this book is akin to reading an apple and finding out that bit don't taste very good but you keep on with the task because it's better to finish everything
