i WILL relate 2 my middle school patrons (this month's book club pick)

This was the author’s first book, and I can tell that he did some research into zoos and animals. This book was super interesting, and I’m interested to find out how other books in the series will play out

Beyond upsetting to me that Theodore, a character whose entire personality revolves around animals and knowing things about them, talks about poisonous snakes multiple times throughout the book when he means venomous snakes smh!

I liked this book. I originally said to myself that this was a child book, I felt it to be too young for a young adult book, but it is somewhere in the middle. I don't know if younger children will get the concepts but it might be too young for a who I imagine when I think YA. But over all a good book. Teddy has persistance and even though he is a little troublemaker, he is a good kid. I will continue with this series.

3 and a half. Pretty fun, but with the narrator only 12 years old there were times It felt wrong--like he was talking like a 21 yr old college student. In some areas this made sense because of his life experiences, but in other areas, it just felt wrong. Most 12 yr old boys are really really quite young still. Overall, however, it is a fun different story and living in the area that it is suppose to take place made it all the more interesting to me.
