Chapter 40 is where I stopped. It just didn't interest me enough.

4.5 stars! Oh, what a beautiful hidden gem of a throwback this was! I'm so glad I picked this up! The vibes and anmosphere of this book? Impeccable. The writing? Unbeleivably heavenly and georgeous. I felt like I was in a poem, infused with both modernity and myth. You know I love a good soulmate story (well, you might not have known, but you do know lol!), and this story was absolutely, utterly heart-wrenching. Exactly my kind of read! I neeeed to pick up the sequel, as well as Strange the Dreamer! I'm not exactly sure why I'm not rating it fully 5 stars... it's just kind of a gut feeling. But still, this book was absolutely lovely. What an amazing writer LainiTaylor is! I know this one is slightly old, but please do pick it up if you haven't already! It's a whimsical, haunting tapestry of a story that's unlike any other!

Just as good the second time around. I absolutely love Karou. She's such a unique character in the world of YA fiction, her own person shaped by her circumstances but not controlled by them. If I knew her, I'd be friends with her. And, yeah, I won't lie. The whole time I was reading this (again) I kept picturing her as a blue haired version of Laini Taylor. Dude, you must be one hell of a person, Laini.

This is beautiful tale of forbidden love, with so much angst, mystery and intrigue.
We have so many questions in the first few chapters alone. I really enjoyed this book. I can’t say much without spoiling it. But by the end....I need to read book 2 but I’m also scared.
